lessons from oz
DESCRIPTION
Sensors, GPS, touchscreens, gestural interfaces, open application platforms... oh my! Product and technology innovations are enabling new and exciting opportunities for mobile experiences - experiences that have the power to be more empathetic to the human experience with implications beyond the mobile context. Realizing these opportunities is a daunting task. One that requires designers to work outside the contours of our own assumptions and view the world through new lenses.Using cues from Dorothy's fanciful journey in the Wizard of Oz, Rachel shares her unique perspective on topics such as mobile service design, mobile social networks, and mobile interface design and offers insight into how designers can make the most of the opportunities abound in mobile and beyond.TRANSCRIPT

“... before Twitter, I spent 12 years working in the dispatch industry, which are couriers, taxis, 911. And these industries are concerned with status - what people are doing right now.
I’ve always been fascinated by this concept of status, and I wanted to have that same model for my friends.”
- Jack Dorsey, Founder of Twitter
