About Lenticular

Lenticular Lens An array of parallel lenticules. When viewed from different angles, different parallel image areas are magnified.

Lenticular Image A specially prepared image placed or printed behind the lens. Views are arranged under lenticules so that each eye is presented with a different view. The brain processes these views to a single coherent 3D image.

Pitch (Mechanical) Number of lenticules / inch (LPI). Viewing Angle Lenses are available in different

viewing angles. The narrower the viewing angle, the thicker the lens, and larger the viewing distance for 3D.

Lens thickness Thick lenses (< 60 LPI) are suitable for printing wide format applications such as airports, exhibition graphics, POS, etc. Thin lenses (> 60 LPI) are suitable for handheld applications with a short viewing distances such as magazine inserts, packaging, etc.

Printing resolution The ratio between printing resolution and lens pitch determines the number of views that can be placed under each lenticule. The higher the pitch, the higher the printing resolution required for effective 3D viewing.

Viewing distance The distance from which the picture is best viewed.
