Legal Employment Forecasts (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics: Occupational Outlook

Handbook, 2010-2011; Occupation Employment, May 2010)

The Legal occupation is forecasted to grow

by 15% from 2008-2018, adding 188,400

new jobs.

Lawyers account for a majority of the Legal

profession. Employment is expected to grow

by 13% to 857,700 over the 2008-18 decade

as the occupation adds 98,500 new roles to

serve the continued growth of legal activity.

Employment of paralegals is forecasted to rise

a strong 28% to 337,900. The significant

growth is due to the widening role of these

workers, as they are assigned tasks once

completed by lawyers.

Two other minor Legal roles include Judges

(4% rise to 53,100) and Court Reporters (18%

growth to 25,400).
