Introduction The correspondence courses align with the syllabus for the LEEA Examinations and have proved to be a very effective way of acquiring the knowledge needed to be successful in the Examination. Since their inception it has been our policy to review the courses each year to ensure the material is up to date and this has been done for 2013/2014. What courses are available The courses available for 2013/2014 are as follows:

Course 1 - Part 1 Entry Examination

Course 2 - Lifting Equipment General

Course 3 - Lifting Machines Manual

Course 4- Lifting Machines Power

Course 5 - Runways & Light Crane Structures

Course 6 – Overhead Travelling & Portal Cranes How they work Training Portal (Starting on Friday 18th October 2013) To use the on line Training Portal the student needs access to the internet, a printer and a computer with Microsoft Word 2003 as a minimum. Each course comprises of twenty units. On enrolment the student will receive an email with their log on details and full details of how to access the training material. On logging in the first unit and assignment will then be available. On completion of each assignment the student will receive the next unit and assignment. As soon as the tutor has marked the paper it will be uploaded to the Training Portal with the mark achieved. In this way the student will be able to monitor his/her own progress and understand the requirements of the examinations. PLEASE NOTE: As from the 1st July 2013, all courses via the Training Portal must be completed within 2 years of enrolment. Enrolments will cease on Friday 29th August 2014, to enable set up of Training Portal for the new academic year. Conventional Mail (Starting on Friday 18th October 2013 until Friday 7th March 2014) Each course comprises of twenty weekly units. Once a week the student will be sent the next unit of learning material and an assignment which will normally be directly related to that material. The completed assignment should be returned to the LEEA at the end of the week when it will be marked by the course tutor and returned to the student in a later package. In this way the student will be able to monitor his/her own progress and understand the requirements of the examinations. Please note that assignments returned more than four weeks after the last unit of course material has been despatched will not be marked. The courses are administered by the LEEA and, in the first instance, all communications should be with us although the course tutors are prepared to assist anyone in undue difficulties. Who can enrol The courses are open to all employees of LEEA members. What it costs (examination fees are extra) The price of each course within by Training Portal is £342.00 (£285.00 + VAT) but does not include a binder. (UK and Northern Ireland only).
