Managers Mutterings Dear Member Its always sad when a member passes away but more so after 48 years at the club and even more as a servant of the local community. Canon Tony Gardner passed away earlier this week, for many years Tony was vicar at St Margaret's Church where his funeral will take place on 23rd November at 11.30am. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tony's remaining family. Winter Wheels will be mandatory from 1st December this is a month later than last year based on ground conditions. Over the next week Jason and the team will be introducing some winter tee mats and you will have noticed we've started to rope areas off to protect the course. Thanks to everyone who has been using the fairway mats, we will only know if this has been a success in the spring of 2019. There is a Course Management meeting next week where the committee will approve an official policy towards their use. We have witnessed animal damage recently on the 16th green by badgers and more widely on the cracks that have been filled by rabbits, this will be monitored and discouraged using those methods available to us. Check out the posters around the club about the December Captains Draw Night. The jackpot is £1000 with a guaranteed £500 being given away along with the spot prizes for the other games. Remember you can only win the BIG ONE if you're in the room. It's looking good for golf with only the slightest chance of any rain, so if you are planning to play have a great round, then with international football and rugby plus what we hope is the last day of the test match in Sri Lanka as England close out a series win and home players in contention in the golf its a great weekend of sport. Kind regards Bryan Frazer Club Manager
