What is it?Essential Conversations for Leaders was created in response to demand from graduates of The Coaching Clinic™ for an advanced program focusing on the application and integration of coaching, both in a manager’s day-to-day and in a focused application: the development of others.

What it doesParticipants are challenged to raise their standards for constructive, collaborative conversations, and to explore the shifts required of them if they are to build a truly development-focused and self-sustaining work environment. Among the outcomes are:

• A renewed commitment to the value and application of coaching as a leadership competency• Increased confidence and a model of excellence for conducting developmental conversations• Understanding of different learning styles and how these affect leadership development• Confidence in using advanced coaching skills to increase effectiveness of coaching conversations• A strategy for using collaboration as an approach and mindset when developing others

Who is it for?Essential Conversations for Leaders is intended for leaders in organizations who have already participated in The Coaching Clinic and have successfully applied these principles and practices in their professional lives.

What to expectParticipants will:

• Renew the foundational principles for coaching, reinforcing the core concepts, skills and models presented in The Coaching Clinic.• Raise their coaching skills to the next level with new models and tools, including using Powerful Language, Gap Bridging, and more.• Look at their own learning style preferences, and explore how their learning style influences their own development and that of those they coach. • Receive feedback on their own coaching style with tips to increase effectiveness• Practice Courageous Conversations – how to initiate conversations about sensitive issues, carrying them through with confidence, sensitivity, and integrity• Be able to bring all of these elements together, creating an environment that fosters leadership development.

Participants work with case studies plus real-life scenarios drawn from their unique business environment, supported with first-class printed materials and guided group interaction to maximize their learning experience.

Plan The Action· Of all the options, what’s most compelling?· What do you need to do fi rst?· Who or what do you need to include to succeed?· Who do you need to talk to?· How will these actions contribute to achieving your goal?

Remove the Barriers· What might prevent you from succeeding?· What’s missing?· What resources do you need?· What are the roadblocks you expect or know about?· Who do you need to communicate this to in the organization?

Recap· Tell me what you are going to do and by when?· What are you taking away from this conversation?· What will you have achieved by our next meeting?· For our next meeting, what date and time will work best?· How would you like me to hold you accountable for your commitments?
