Before operating this LCD Projection TV, read this manualthoroughly and operate the LCD Projection TV properly. This LCD Projection TV provides many convenient featuresand functions. Operating the LCD Projection TV properlyenables you to manage those features and maintains it inbetter condition for a considerable time.Improper operation may result in not only shortening theproduct-life, but also malfunctions, fire hazard, or otheraccidents.If your LCD Projection TV seems to operate improperly, readthis manual again, check operations and cable connectionsand try the solutions in the “Troubleshooting” section in theend of this booklet. If the problem still persists, contact thedealer where you purchased the LCD Projection TV or theservice center.
Safety Precaution

– Install the LCD Projection TV in a proper position. If not, itmay result in a fire hazard.
– Provide appropriate space on the top, sides and rear of theLCD Projection TV cabinet for allowing air circulation andcooling the LCD Projection TV. Minimum clearance mustbe maintained. If the LCD Projection TV is to be built into acompartment or similarly enclosed, the minimum distancesmust be maintained. Do not cover the ventilation slot onthe LCD Projection TV. Heat build-up can reduce theservice life of your LCD Projection TV, and can also bedangerous.
– Do not put any flammable object or spray can near the LCDProjection TV, hot air is exhausted from the ventilationholes.
– If the LCD Projection TV is not to be used for an extendedtime, unplug the LCD Projection TV from the power outlet.

Care for Using the LCD Projection TV
When using the LCD Projection TV, the following precautionsshould be taken. Otherwise, the screen can be damaged:
Do not push or hit the screen surface. Do not write, paint or affix anything on the screen. Do not put anything on the LCD Projection TV.
For cleaning the LCD Projection TV, refer to "Cleaning the LCDProjection TV" on p57 and maintain it properly.
NOTE:
Black dots or bright points of light (red, green, or blue) may appear on the screen.This is a characteristic of the LCD panels, not a mulfunction of the LCD ProjectionTV.

Safety InstructionsAll the safety and operating instructions should be read beforethe product is operated.
Read all of the instructions given here and retain them for lateruse. Unplug this LCD Projection TV from AC power supplybefore cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use adamp cloth for cleaning.
Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the LCDProjection TV.
For added protection to the LCD Projection TV during alightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused forlong periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet. This willprevent damage due to lightning and power line surges.
Do not expose this unit to rain or use near water... forexample, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, etc...
Do not use attachments not recommended by themanufacturer as they may cause hazards.
Do not place this LCD Projection TV on an unstable cart,stand, or table. The LCD Projection TV may fall, causingserious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to theLCD Projection TV. Use only with a cart or standrecommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the LCDProjection TV. Wall or shelf mountingshould follow the manufacturer'sinstructions, and should use a mountingkit approved by the manufacturers.
An appliance and cart combination shouldbe moved with care. Quick stops,excessive force, and uneven surfacesmay cause the appliance and cartcombination to overturn.
Slots and openings in the back and bottom of the cabinet areprovided for ventilation, to insure reliable operation of theequipment and to protect it from overheating.
The openings should never be covered with cloth or othermaterials, and the bottom opening should not be blocked byplacing the LCD Projection TV on a rug, or other similarsurface. This LCD Projection TV should never be placed nearor over a radiator or heat register.
This LCD Projection TV should not be placed in a built-ininstallation such as a book case unless proper ventilation isprovided.
Never push objects of any kind into this LCD Projection TVthrough cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltagepoints or short out parts that could result in a fire or electricshock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the LCD Projection TV.
Do not install the LCD Projection TV near the ventilation ductof air-conditioning equipment.
This LCD Projection TV should be operated only from the typeof power source indicated on the marking label. If you are notsure of the type of power supplied, consult your authorizeddealer or local power company.

Features and DesignThis LCD Projection TV is designed with the most advanced technology for various use. This LCD Projection TV has a largescreen and utilizes built-in multimedia features, a palette of 16.77 million colors, and matrix liquid crystal display (LCD)technology.
Compatibility
The LCD Projection TV widely accepts various video andcomputer input signals including;
Computers
IBM-compatible or Macintosh computer up to1280 x 1024 resolution.
4 Color Systems
NTSC, PAL, SECAM, NTSC 4.43 color system canbe connected.
Component Video
Component video signal, such as a DVD playeroutput high definition TV signals including 480i,480p, 575i, 575p, 720p, or 1080i, can beconnected.
S-Video
S-Video signal, such as a S-VHS VCR outputsignal, can be connected.
Simple Computer System Setting
The LCD Projection TV has the Multi-scan system toconform to almost all computer output signals quickly.(See page 46.)
High Quality Audio System
This LCD Projection TV has audio system to producehigh quality sound. There are Bass, Treble, and Balancefunctions on the menu of the LCD Projection TV so thatyou can enjoy powerful sound with large screen.
Bilingual Menu Display
Operation menu is available in English and Chinese (Seepage 53.)
Power Management
The Power management function reduces powerconsumption and maintain the lamp life. (See page 54.)
Digital Visual Interface
The LCD Projection TV is equipped with DVI 29-pinterminal for connecting DVI output from a computer orvideo equipment. You can also enjoy digitalentertainment content protected by HDCP technology.(See page 44 for HDCP.)
Plug & Play
The Plug & Play function enables you to be free fromcomplicate channel preset operation in first timeinstalling the LCD Projection TV.
Lamp Mode
Brightness of the projection lamp can be changed bysetting. The LCD Projection TV has the function toadjust the brightness according to an input signal for thebest suited image. (See page 17, 54.)
16 : 9 Wide Screen
The LCD Projection TV employs 45" and 55" large-sizedscreen and LCD panels (1280 x 720 resolution) of 16 : 9ratio so that you can enjoy high definition broadcast orhigh quality image from the computer in a full largescreen.
Active 3D Surround
This LCD Projection TV provides 3 dimentional surroundsound.
Timer Functions
Unique and convenient timer functions are provided forthis LCD Projection TV.
Off Timer
The LCD Projection TV can automatically beturned off at your desired time between 30 and120 minutes. (p54)
On Timer
The LCD Projection TV can automatically beturned on at your desired time between 1 and 120hours. (p18)
No Operation Shut Off Timer
The LCD Projection TV can automatically beturned off when no one operates the LCDProjection TV over 3 hours. This function serves tomaintain the lamp life, save power, and keepsafety while you left the place for a long time.(p53)
Picture Level Memory
The picture settings that you adjusted can be stored inmemory for each channel position from 1 to 30. You canenjoy viewing your favorite TV programs with yourprefered picture quality anytime you want. (Seepage33-35)

Installing the LCD Projection TV
Openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and toensure reliable operation of the product and to protect itfrom overheating, and these openings must not be blockedor covered.
CAUTION
Hot air is exhausted from the exhaust vent. When usingor install ing the LCD Projection TV, the followingprecautions should be taken.
– Do not put any flammable objects near the vent.– Keep the exhaust vent at least 1.5’(50cm) away from
any objects.– Do not touch a peripheral part of the exhaust vent,
especially screws and metallic part. This area willbecome hot while the LCD Projection TV is being used.
Cooling fans are provided to cool down the LCD ProjectionTV. This LCD Projection TV monitors internal temperatureand control the running speed of the cooling fans.

Placing and Settling the LCD Projection TV

This LCD Projection TV provides "Plug & Play" function.Before connecting the AC power cord into an AC outletand turn on the LCD Projection TV, necessary preperationshould be done as directed in the following pages.

CAUTION
When placing the LCD Projection TV, the spaces forventilation must be maintained.
Place the LCD Projection TV on flat places or with anexclusive LCD Projection TV stand. Placing on unflatplaces may cause picture tilt or distortion.
Do not place the LCD Projection TV under direct sunlight.This may have a damaging effect on picture quality andthe screen surface of the LCD Projection TV.

To insure safe operation, please observe the following precautions : Use (2) AA, UM3 or R06 type alkaline manganese batteries. Replace two batteries at the same time. Do not use a new battery with a used battery. Avoid contact with water or liquid. Do not expose the remote control to moisture, or heat. Do not drop the remote control. If a battery has leaked on remote control, carefully wipe case clean and install new batteries. Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
Point the remote control toward the LCD Projection TV(Infrared Remote Receiver) whenever pressing any button.Maximum operating range for the remote control is about 16.4’(5m) and 60° in front of the LCD Projection TV.

This LCD projection TV uses nominal input voltages of 100-120 Vor 200-240 V AC. This LCD projection TV automatically selects thecorrect input voltage. It is designed to work with single-phasepower systems having a grounded neutral conductor. To reducerisk of electrical shock, do not plug into any other type of powersystem.Consult your authorized dealer or service station if you are not sureof the type of power being supplied.Connect the LCD Projection TV with all peripheral equipmentbefore turning the LCD Projection TV on. Press the POWER ON-OFF button on the front control or on theremote control.The POWER indicator turns into orange, and it continues while thecooling fans are operating (for about 4 minutes). The LCD ProjectionTV can be turned on again immediately in the 4 minutes.
When the LCD Projection TV has cooled down enough, the POWERindicator lights red. Then you can disconnect the AC power cord.
TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF LAMP, ONCE YOU TURNYOUR LCD PROJECTION TV ON, WAIT AT LEAST 5MINUTES BEFORE TURNING IT OFF.DO NOT DISCONNECT AC POWER CORD WHILECOOLING FANS ARE RUNNING OR BEFORE POWERINDICATOR LIGHTS RED. OTHERWISE IT WILL RESULTIN SHORTENING LAMP LIFE.
NOTE The LCD Projection TV cannot be turned on during the cooling period with the POWER
indicator blinking red. You can turn it on again when the POWER indicator lights orangeor red.
Do not use the LCD Projection TV for more than 24 hours continuously. Turn off the LCDProjection TV at least once in 24 hours and give it a rest. Continuous use may result inshortening the lamp life.
This LCD Projection TV monitors internal temperature and automatically controls therunning speed of the cooling fans.
If the WARNING indicator blinks or lights red, see “Warning Indicator” on page 56.
Press the POWER ON-OFF button on the front panel of the LCDProjection TV or the remote control. The cooling fans start tooperate. The POWER indicator blinks green rapidly for 15seconds.

Plug the AC power cord of the LCD Projection TV into an ACoutlet after the antenna connection is completed.
Turn on the LCD Projection TV by pressing the POWER ON-OFFbutton on the remote control or the front control and then theautomatic channel tuning will start to detect all availablechannels and set them up.

This LCD Projection TV provides Automatic Channel Set-up functioncalled "Plug & Play" for your first time TV viewing after installation.
When the automatic channel set-up has completed, channelposition 1 and the message "AUTO SET-UP COMPLETEDHAPPY VIEWING" will be displayed.
Should no station be detected through the search, the message"NO STATION. PLEASE CONNECT ANTENNA PLUG." will bedisplayed. Turn off the LCD Projection TV and check theantenna connection.

NOTE:
The Plug & Play operation can be cancelled anytime by pressing the TV MENU button or theALTERNATE (p) button on the remote control. The Plug & Play operation does not workany longer if it is cancelled after any channel is detected.To restart the Plag & Play, execute Factory default from the Setting menu. (p55)
Auto set-up is completed successfully.
When no station is detected, please check the antennaconnection. After reconnecting the LCD Projection TVand the outdoor antenna, turn on the LCD ProjectionTV. The automatic tuning will start again.
NOTE:

When the LCD Projection TV has detected a receivable station,and the pointer has stopped, press the ALTERNATE (p)button to return to the main menu. If you wish to skip thedetected channel, press the Point Right/Left button. Thechannel search will start again.

In Semi-Automatic Channel Search mode, set the Color system to AUTO and SIF system to S-1(Auto) normally. Under difficult receiving conditions, set the Color system and SIF systemmanually to obtain optimum picture and clear sound if necessary. (p29-30)

This LCD Projection TV can detect most of the current computer systems with the Multi-scan system and the Auto PCadjustment function provided in the LCD Projection TV. When selecting computer input, the LCD Projection TVautomatically displays the most proper image for the input signal. One of the following four displays appears on the systemmenu icon. If the LCD Projection TV does not tune the input signal and the projected image is not displayed properly, orwhen you wish to adjust it manually, perform manual adjustment as described on page 48-49.
When the LCD Projection TV cannot recognize theconnected signal as PC system provided in this LCDProjection TV, the Auto PC Adjustment function operatesto adjust the LCD Projection TV and the message “Auto”is displayed in the PC System Menu icon. When theimage is not provided properly, manual adjustment isrequired. (p48-49)
There is no signal input from the connected computer.Check the connection of the computer and see if theLCD Projection TV is set correctly. (See “Troubleshooting” on page 61.)

When Digital zoom is selected, the On-Screen Menu disappears andthe message “D.Zoom” is displayed. Press the OK button to expandthe image. And press the POINT UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT button(s) topan the image. The panning function can work only when the originalimage is larger than screen size (1280 x 720).

For reducing power consumption as well as maintaining the lamp life,the Power management function turns off the projection lamp whenthe input signal is interrupted and no button is pressed for 30 secondsor more.When the input signal is interrupted and no button is pressed for 30seconds or more, the timer display with the message "No signal"appears on the screen. The count-down starts for 5 minutes. When the count-down time has elapsed, the lamp will be turned offand the POWER indicator slowly blinks green. When any signal isconnected or any button on the remote control or the front control ispressed, the projection lamp will be turned on again.

When the temperature inside the LCD Projection TV exceeds thenormal temperature, the LCD Projection TV is automatically shutdown to protect the LCD Projection TV. The POWER indicator isblinking red and the LCD Projection TV is being cooled down. Whenthe temperature inside the LCD Projection TV returns to normal, thePOWER indicator lights red and the LCD Projection TV can be turnedon.
NOTE:
Even after the temperature inside the LCD Projection TV returns to normal, the WARNINGindicator may keep blinking. The WARNING indicator stops blinking when the LCDProjection TV is turned on again,.
Then check the items below.
Did you provide appropriate space for the LCD Projection TV to beventilated? Check the installing condition to see if ventilation slotsare not blocked.
Is the LCD Projection TV not installed near the ventilation duct ofair-conditioning equipment which may be hot? Install the LCDProjection TV away from the ventilation duct of air-conditioningequipment.
Is the air filter clean? Clean the air filter or replace it with a newone.

When the LCD Projection TV detects an abnormal condition, it isautomatically shut down to protect the inside and the WARNINGindicator lights red. If the LCD Projection TV is turned off again and the WARNINGindicator lights red, disconnect the AC power cord and contact theservice station for check and repair.
CAUTIONDO NOT LEAVE THE LCD PROJECTION TV WITH THE ACPOWER CORD CONNECTED UNDER THE ABNORMALCONDITION. IT MAY RESULT IN FIRE OR ELECTRICSHOCK.

RECOMMENDATIONWe recommend avoiding dusty/smoky environments when operatingthe LCD Projection TV. When using under dusty or smoky conditions,dust may accumulate on the optical elements inside the LCDProjection TV and the screen surface. This condition may degrade thequality of a projected image.When the above symptoms are noticed, contact your authorizeddealer or service station for proper cleaning.

The Air Filter prevents dust from accumulating on the optical elements inside the LCD Projection TV. Should the Air Filterbecome clogged with dust particles, it will reduce the Cooling Fans' effectiveness and may result in internal heat building upand effect on the life of the LCD Projection TV.To clean the Air Filter, follow the cleaning procedures below:
Remove the Air Filter from the Air Filter Holder, and clean theAir Filter with a brush or a vacuum cleaner.If the Air Filter is clogged extremely or broken, replace it withthe new one.

Fit the Air Filter back in the Air Filter Holder and then replace itto the LCD Projection TV. Make sure that the Air Filter fits theplace where it should be.

Gently wipe the screen and the cabinet with a soft dry clean cloth. When it is heavily soiled, wipe the screen and the cabinet with a

Loosen the 2 screws that secure the lamp with a screwdriverand pull out the Lamp by grasping the handle.4
Replace the Lamp with a new one and tighten the 2 screws.Make sure that the Lamp is correctly secured into the Lampcompartment. Refer to p59 on ordering the replacement lamp.

Follow these steps to replace the lamp assembly.
Put the Lamp Cover back and tighten the 4 screws, and thenreplace the Left front cover.6
For continued safety, replace with a lamp of the sametype. Do not drop a lamp or touch a glass bulb! Theglass can shatter and may cause injury.
Allow a LCD Projection TV to cool, for at least 30minutes before you open the Lamp cover. The inside ofthe LCD Projection TV can become very hot.

Turn the LCD Projection TV on, press the MENU button, andthe On-Screen Menu will appear. Select the Setting Menuwith the Point Up/Down button and press the Point Rightbutton to enter the sub-menu.
Select the Lamp counter reset item and then press the OKbutton. The message "Lamp replace counter Reset?" isdisplayed. Choose [Yes] and then press the OK button.

This LCD Projection TV uses a high-pressure lamp which must be handled carefully and properly.Improper handling may result in accidents, injury, or create a fire hazard.
Lamp lifetime may differ from lamp to lamp and according to the environment of use. There is noguarantee of the same lifetime for each lamp. Some lamps may fail or terminate their lifetime in ashorter period of time than other similar lamps.
If the LCD Projection TV indicates that the lamp should be replaced, i.e., if the LAMP REPLACEindicator lights up, replace the lamp with a new one IMMEDIATELY after the LCD Projection TV hascooled down. ( Follow carefully the instructions in the Lamp Replacement section of this manual. ) Continuous useof the lamp with the LAMP REPLACE indicator lighted may increase the risk of lamp explosion.
A Lamp may explode as a result of vibration, shock or degradation as a result of hours of use as itslifetime draws to an end. Risk of explosion may differ according to the environment or conditions inwhich the LCD Projection TV and lamp are being used.
IF A LAMP EXPLODES, THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN.
If a lamp explodes, disconnect the LCD Projection TV’s AC plug from the AC outlet immediately. Contactan authorized service station for a checkup of the unit and replacement of the lamp. Additionally, checkcarefully to ensure that there are no broken shards or pieces of glass around the LCD Projection TV orcoming out from the cooling air circulation holes. Any broken shards found should be cleaned upcarefully. No one should check the inside of the LCD Projection TV except those who are authorizedtrained technicians and who are familiar with LCD Projection TV service. Inappropriate attempts toservice the unit by anyone, especially those who are not appropriately trained to do so, may result in anaccident or injury caused by pieces of broken glass.

– Make sure all equipment is connected to AC outlet and the power is turned on.– When you operate the LCD Projection TV with a computer and it does not project an image, restart the computer.
No power – Plug the power cord of the LCD Projection TV into the AC outlet.– Wait 90 seconds after the LCD Projection TV is turned OFF when turning the LCD
Projection TV back on. The LCD Projection TV can be turned on after the POWERindicator turns red. (See “Turning Off the LCD Projection TV” on page 16.)
– Check the WARNING indicator. If the WARNING indicator lights red, the LCD ProjectionTV cannot be turned on. (See "Warning Indicator" on page 56.)
– Check the LCD Projection TV is installed on the flat surface.
No sound – Check audio cable connection from audio input source.– Adjust the audio source.– Press the Vol (+) button.– Press the Mute button.

– Check the Display item. (See “Setting” on page 53 .)
No image – Check the connection between video equipment or your computer and the LCDProjection TV.
– See if the input signal is correctly output from your computer. Some laptop computersmay need changing the setting for monitor output when you are connecting a laptopcomputer. See your computer’s owner’s manual for setting.
– It takes about 30 seconds to display an image after turning on the LCD Projection TV.– See if the selected system is corresponding with video equipment or your computer.– Select correct input source once again through menu operation.– Make sure the temperature is not out of the Operating Temperature (5°C ~ 35°C).
Poor or dark image – Check the antenna connection. Make sure the antenna cord is connected to the terminalsecurely.
– Make sure the antenna or the antenna cable is not broken.– Check the channel setting.– Adjust Brightness in the Image Adjust menu.– Check the Lamp mode. In Eco1 or Eco2 mode, the picture may become less brighter
than in Normal mode.
Dotted lines or stripes
appears on the screen.
– Adjust the antenna.– The LCD Projection TV may be affected by noise sources such as cars, motorbikes, trains,
high-tension cables, neon signs, electric vacuum cleaners and hair-dryers. Install the LCDProjection TV, the antenna and the antenna cable away from those sources.

Check the indicators for LCD Projection TV condition.
Indicators and Condition of the LCD Projection TV
The LCD Projection TV is OFF. (The AC power cord is unplugged.)
The LCD Projection TV is preparing for stand-by or the projection lamp isbeing cooled down. The LCD Projection TV cannot be turned on until coolingis completed.
The temperature inside the LCD Projection TV is abnormally high. The LCDProjection TV cannot be turned on. When the LCD Projection TV hascooled down enough and the temperature returns to normal, the POWERindicator lights red and the LCD Projection TV can be turned on. (TheWARNING indicator keeps blinking.) Check and clean the Air filter.
LCD Projection TV Condition
The LCD Projection TV is ready to be turned on with the POWER ON-OFFbutton. The cooling fans are stopped.

The LCD Projection TV detects an abnormal condition and cannot be turnedon. Unplug the AC power cord and plug it again to turn on the LCDProjection TV. It may cause electricshock or a fire hazard.
The LCD Projection TV is operating normally.
Blinks slowly: The LCD Projection TV is in the Power management mode. Blinks rapidly: The LCD Projection TV is turned on from the stand-by mode.
The LCD Projection TV has been cooled down enough and the temperaturereturns to normal. When turning on the LCD Projection TV, the WARNINGindicator stops blinking. Check and clean the air filters.
The LCD Projection TV can be turned on with the POWER ON-OFFbutton. The cooling fans are running.
When the life of the projection lamp draws to an end, the LAMP REPLACE indicator lights orange. When this indicator lightsorange, replace the projection lamp with a new one promptly. Reset the Lamp replace counter after replacement of the lamp. See page 58-60.
