Low levels of laser energy emitted by LumiSlim stimulate the fat cell membranes, changing their permeability.

The cells lose their round shape, and intracellular fat is released. Then the fatty triglycerides flow out of the disrupted cell membranes and into the interstitial space, where they gradually pass through the body’s natural metabolic functions with no harmful physiological effects, to be used as an energy source for the body.

This process does not alter neighboring structures such as the skin, blood vessels, and peripheral nerves. It is not merely the liquefaction of fat but instead it is the instant breakdown of the fat cells, otherwise known as lipolysis.

Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped glands of the immune system.  They are present throughout different areas of our body and are linked by lymphatic vessels which carry lymph fluid, nutrients, and waste material from the body tissues and to the blood stream.

The Laser Liposuction device emits low level laser (LLL) energy at a wavelength of approximately 640 - 650nM, which penetrates the skin to a depth of approximately 8-9mm.  This is just deep enough to reach the subcutaneous fat layer.

The membranes (cell walls) of the fat cells (known as "Adipocytes") are disrupted and develop tiny pores (holes) releasing the contents into the space between the fat cells (the "interstitial space").

The contents of the fat cells (Fatty Acids, Triglycerides and water) spill out from the porous cell membranes and are released into the interstitial space.  This mechanism of action is not “liquefaction of fat”, it is the instant emptying out of the cells rather than the destruction of them. (referred to as lipolysis).

The intra-cellular fat causes the cell to lose its round shape by changing the permeability of the cell membrane. This does not affect the neighbouring structures such as skin, blood vessels, and peripheral nerves.

During a routine LumiSlim treatment, up to four treatment pads containing the laser diodes are placed over the treatment area, secured in direct contact with the skin using elastic straps.

Then two more laser probes are positioned onto the region of the lymphatic nodes closest to the treatment zone.

Once all of the pads are in place, the clients can get comfortable and just enjoy

How many treatments will I need?

To see maximum results a course of 8 treatments is recommended, per body area. These treatments should be taken twice per week at regular intervals.

Which areas of the body can be treated?

The LumiSlim course can be performed on calfs, knees, thighs, buttocks, stomach, arms and chin. The LumiSlim is a multi-pad system that makes treatment fast and efficient. Typical treatment times are 20-30 minutes.

What inch loss could I achieve from this treatment?

This will vary from person to person depending on your size, but the results from the treatment will be greatly improved by your commitment to the treatment. A healthy diet needs to be adhered to and an exercise program is important to follow to enable the released fat to be used up as energy. This should be done the same day as your LumiSlim treatment.

Does it hurt?

The LumiSlim is a low level laser also sometimes known as a cold laser because most people feel very little when it is used on them. LumiSlim is a comfortable relaxing treatment where the typical sensation felt is just a slight warmth where the pads are in contact with your skin.

Can everyone have the treatment?

As with most treatments in your clinic, there are a few medical conditions that would stop us from performing the treatment. Your LumiSlim therapist will go through a full health and medical questionnaire with you before your first treatment to ensure you are suitable. This will also include a detailed description of the treatment and time for any questions you may have.

How long will the results last?

Booster treatments are not necessarily needed with the LumiSlim, as long as your weight, diet and exercise is maintained. One treatment performed now and again is a good incentive to keep you in control.
