Energy Efficiency- Incorporate highest standards of energy efficient equipment and
measures in our facilities worldwide.
-Highly efficient lighting , HVAC and
Cogeneration systems
-To date, Qualcomm’s energy efficiency
investments in nearly five million square
feet of building space in California alone
have saved more than 22.5 million kilowatt
hours of electricity annually, valued at over
$2.92 million savings each year.
-Partner with Utility Companies & CaCSE
to earn energy incentives
- Equivalent to avoiding 7,390 metric tons
of greenhouse gas emissions or
eliminating the annual emissions of 1,343
cars.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions - CCAR
- Growth in overall California emissions mimics the company‟s growth
in Building Square Footage since reporting began in 2002.

5
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
• Voluntary Report to the California Climate Action Registry
since 2002. Joined The Climate Registry 2010.
- Measure, report and reduce our annual emissions

High Value in Reporting
Emissions:
• Contributes to the transparency of our business
operations
• Favorably recognized - external analysts and
researchers who evaluate our company‟s “corporate
responsibility” initiatives (i.e. CDP, Goldman Sachs)
• Criteria on leading sustainability indices: ability to
track, report and verify emissions
• Critical Investor Value: Maplecroft-Bloomberg newly
released “Climate Innovation Indexes” - “Climate-
related innovation and carbon management are two
leading indicators of financial performance” (QCOM
designated “Leader” and ranked 29 out of 318 of
largest U.S. companies)

in May 2009 (saves 2.6 million gallons of potable water/yr)
- In process of converting Building P Cooling Tower to
Reclaimed (will save 29.8 million gallons of potable water/yr)
- Converting landscape to dryscape utilizing mulch, rocks,
bark
- Installing toilets with default sensory flush based on time in
front of sensor
- Hand sanitizers help reduce water usage
- W Campus pre-plumbed for reclaimed water since 2006;
City working on extension plans
- Continue to focus on conserving water , compliance with City

The phenomenon that makes a butterfly's wings shimmer is the same principle
applied in Qualcomm's mirasol displays - reflects light so that specific
wavelengths interfere with each other to create color .
