Design Solution: To better connect the green spaces on the periphery of downtown with the stale inner core, green sidewalks and street plantings were conceptualized to help guide people to make better use of the existing parks surrounding downtown.Painted green vines were conceptualized to grow and spread into the city from the water edge, and help vehicles bevcome more aware of pedestrian traffic, leading to a more walking friendly downtown

Design collaboration with a partner:
After intense analysis of site, including physical, geographical, contextual, and hydrologic research, the importance of the site location on the Oak Ridges Moraine was established to be a main point of the rehabilitation access.
A fifteen year rehabilitation plan was developed to convert the barren pit into an oasis for wildlife, creating corridors between existing forest and increasing species habitat. As well, the strategic replanting and reforestaion proves to be an excellent opportunity for interpretive walks that can educate the surrounding community on the importance of the Oak Ridges Moraine and the forests surrounding Uxbridge.
