I’m Landon Breaux,A graphic designer turned pilot and drummer.

I’m an established and acknowledged graphic designer out of Phoenix, Arizona. I specialize in design
for print communications and user interface. I am familiar with HTML and CSS and currently study
in the web design field at Arizona State University. I am pursuing my Airline Transport Pilot rating
through ASU, and aspire to have a thriving career in aviation as well as design.

PERSONAL BRANDING
The three conjoined triangles that make up my initials, LB, represent my three passions in life; aviation, music, and design.
I needed to convey that I am a print designer, so the colors cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) make up the majority of the logo since these are the four primary printing colors.
I have been working in the web design field of the industry since 2013, so in order to incorporate the web aspect into my logo, the intersections of the shapes join to create red, green, and blue (RGB), which is the colorspace of digital user interfaces.

AIRLINE TICKETS
A speculative redesign for airline tickets, both vertical and horizontal, in order to employ an obvious and easy to follow hierarchy for the passenger to read with the most pertinent information most readily available.
05
My intention
with both tickets
was to create two
distinct pieces,
the small tear
off piece, and the
main piece.
The tear off
section is meant
for the TSA or
airline ramp
agent. This
allows them to
quickly see where
the passenger
came from and
is heading to,
and also has an
identifying bar
code for quick
access of the
passenger’s
personal details.

GUARDIAN DIVERS UNDERWATER SERVICES
07
Guardian Divers is an expanding boat salvage and repair company based out of Tacoma, Washington. This project included branding the company with a logo, business stationary, business cards, and envelopes.
My idea was to incorporate a
retro diver’s helmet. I felt this
was an appropriate means of
conveying that the company
has had a lot of experience in
the industry, and are proficient
divers.

NERDY GIRLS PRODUCTIONS
I felt the logo needed to incorporate a film strip as the best way to convey that Nerdy Girls is involved in the video production industry.
The Nerdy Girls team wanted to incorporate cat eye glasses, to symbolize class and sophistication with their editing and I was able to use them into the creation of the logo and assets design appropriately.
I used the typeface, “Insignia” for the nerdy portion of the logotype. Its bold and chunky style assimilates a “geeky” aspect, and the typeface, “Museo” was utilized for the girls portion. I felt that the typeface’s light and delicate aesthetic helped relate and echo the female aspect of the company.

The Essentials of Typography The Basics of Layout
This is a close up of the
essentials of typography
poster. Its purpose is to
outline eight rules of
typesetting, which I feel
many designers overlook
quite often. Other general
rules and tips for correctly
setting type within a design
are included with each topic.
Below is a detailed photo of
the basics of layout poster.
This one’s purpose is to
give a brief summary of
the four main elements of
design, alignment, contrast,
repetition, and proximity.
A visual representation is
incorporated in the title of
each section.
11
FUNDAMENTALSOF DESIGN
The Graphic Information Technology department at Arizona State University tasked me to create a series of posters that demonstrate industry standard design practices as well as showcase general facts and tips for graphic design students.
12
HISTORY OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION
The History of Visual Communication timeline was created for the Graphic Information Technology department at Arizona State University. It covers many key advancements which have lead to visual communications as we know them today, such as, photography, social media, and advertising.
13
The timeline has a finished size of 10 feet wide by 2 feet tall and was printed on a wallpaper medium. It is currently installed inside the Technology Center at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus.
14
AVIATION TIMELINE
15
I was able to incorporate 40 events that have contributed to aviation history and have also shaped the industry as we know it today.
Located at the top right of the timeline is Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport (KIWA). This is the airport used by ASU to provide flight training for Professional Flight students attending their Polytechnic Campus.
The illustrated Cessna 172 with the tail number of N984AV is the first plane I personally flew as part of the Professional Flight program. It holds significance for myself and also a number of students who continue to receive flight training in it to this day. I felt it was important to incorporate this in order for each and every flight student to feel a personal connection to the timeline, and this plane will likely be in service for the next 10 to 20 years at this airport.
The finished poster is 10 feet long by 4 feet tall and is displayed inside of the Polytechnic Campus’s Simulator Building located in Mesa, Arizona.
ADAA Semifinalist
This piece was a semifinalist
in the 2014 Adobe Design
Achievement Awards. I was
one of the 75 semifinalists
in the print communications
category, which had a
total of 4419 submissions
internationally.
16
SEMESTER CALENDAR
This calendar was created to span the spring 2014 semester and targets the Graphic Information Technology students at ASU.
Its purpose was to be printed as a dry-erase board to allow students and faculty to write important dates or events on it throughout the semester.
17
18
My task was to create three unique screens that a customer would see during their checkout process. These graphics are displayed on the L5300 inside most U-Haul centers throughout North America.
The text had to be translated into French for use in parts of Canada, so I had to ensure the typefaces I chose for each design had the appropriate glyphs and characters available.

D-SCI-PHER
The School of Computing, Informatics, & Decision Systems Engineering needed visual mockups of a web application to include in a proposal.
D-sci-pher is a proposed website that will be used by college professors and students to evaluate the accuracy of scientific and academic articles.

READY TO GO BOXES
Upon going public with this product, U-Haul wanted to incorporate the option to add Ready-To-Go-Boxes to a customers’ order in the shopping cart of U-Haul.com transactions. I was tasked with creating visual mockups for both U-Haul’s desktop and tablet website, as well as their mobile site.
I created all the imagery seen on both pages through compositing. I was supplied studio images against a white background, and proceeded to render out the boxes and people holding them, then laid them against a more interesting background. I felt adding context to the situations would help the customer to better grasp the applications of Ready-To-Go-Boxes.
Ready-To-Go-Boxes greatly reduce the carbon footprint of moving since they are reusable, weather resistant, and replace the need for cardboard boxes.

FOSSIL AEROFLITE
For this commercial photography project, we needed to create a themed shot for a product or service. I combined my passions of aviation and watches.
I used a Arizona VFR Aeronautical Sectional Chart for the backdrop, a few flight instruments (the infamous E6B and plotter), and the checklists from a Cessna 172 to compliment the Fossil Aeroflite watch.
After setting up the lighting source and conditions, the shot came out beautifully. The image can appeal to both aviation enthusiasts, whom will notice the various flight tools, and those whom are not familiar with aviation since the watch is still the focal point.
26
STAR SUPPLIER
For this group project, we needed to come up with a fictitious company to create an advertisement for. I had the idea for a music shop called, “Star Supplier.”
I had been keeping a collection of all my broken drumsticks throughout the years and they worked perfectly for the background photo.
We were also able to utilize other photography techniques like long exposure, bokeh, and strobe effects. I staged all of the shots, and all the photos here were taken by myself with the exception of the “Music Lessons” photo, since I am the subject.

U-HAULFLEET WEEK
Various photos taken during the annual U-Haul Fleet Week - 2014. The U-Haul Technical Center, which produces most of U-Hauls trucks, trailers, and equipment, brings some of their newest additions from the field to the U-Haul International towers in Phoenix, Arizona.
This allows corporate team members to see U-Haul’s current technology and ask questions to the mechanics and engineers who built it.
I appreciate your time and look forward to working with you in the future.
