LAMELLA INCLINED PLATE CLARIFIER SMALL IN SIZE- BIG IN PERFORMANCE-CASE STUDY
ECO CHEM LAB
LAMELLA INCLINED PLATE CLARIFIER
INSTALLATION CASE STUDY
Introduction:
Reputed and leading Chlor Alkali Industry customer was looking for a Lamella in the plant. The plant
located in an Urban residential area was not having enough space and the challenge was to install the
new lamella in the limited available space.
For over 15+ years the customer was using the circular clarifier and did not have firsthand experience
on Lamella Inclined Plate Clarifier and hence was looking for a reliable supplier with in depth knowledge
on this subject and experience. They floated the enquiry to many suppliers in Indonesia and Eco-Chem
was one of the supplier. The requirement was for a lamella clarifier to handle saturated brine solution
that will operate at 70 deg C plus. The brine is hot and highly corrosive and called for special design of
lamella internals and corrosion resistant coating.
After many interactions and technical discussions and evaluation of ECO design for the challenging application contract was awarded to Eco Chem.
The biggest challenge was space. The available space was very congested and did not have access to move the lamella in to place. The space was surrounded by many tanks, equipment etc.
After site survey and dimensioning Eco Chem made a 3 D modelling of the lamella and simulated the
installation to verify the equipment will fit in after supply and will not foul with other equipment
installed. The margin of error in this case was zero.
Equipment:
Custom built Lamella clarifier designed for 170 m3/h water flow rate and derated for 35 m3/h brine
flow rate. No flash mixing and flocculation tank was provided due to space constraint and in spite of
this fact Eco lamella worked well and met the customer requirement.
Performance guaranteed: - Turbidity - < 5 NTU. Turbidity achieved < 4 NTU. The supplied Lamella met
exceeded the customer expectations more than the specified outlet parameters and the system was
installed and commissioned with 12 days of start of work.
Eco Chem was appreciated by the customer for this successful project. OUTLET AND INLET SAMPLE – (Dosage 2 ppm of Anionic Poly)
