Whether it’s the first day at a new school or the first day back to routine, there’s often a bit of anticipation involved. Depending on your child’s personality this apprehension may be expressed differently, some kids will act out and try “pushing your buttons”, where others start to stress in their own way. In common with other Precis ( and Junonia ) species, the butterflies avidly nectar at wild flowers, and can often be seen in abundance in sheltered areas of flowery grassland. They generally keep their wings erect, or half-open while nectaring, but bask with wings fully outspread when sitting on the ground, or on low foliage.

The Butterflyand the book...

A cocoon was hanging from an old Willow tree, inside was a larvae. He was in other words a baby butterfly. With nothing to do but hang upside down all day long, Zack the larvae listened to the world around him.

Everyday a little girl would sit in the shade of the old Willow tree and read out loud stories of her choice. Zack would listen to the stories with amazement. “Where did these stories come from?” he wondered.On a warm, sunny, summer’s day, the cocoon split open and Zack flew out with wings the colours of the rainbow. Bright, beautiful and curious he flew down to where the little girl sat.

Upon her lap Zack saw a book. The covers of this book and the pictures inside was all the colours of the rainbow!Since that day, Zack would sit on the little girls shoulder and listen to the amazing stories that came from the rainbow coloured book. Stories of adventure, fairy tales and magic. Stories as colourful as his new wings.
