Application and DesignMixing module for the connection of floor heating surfaces with upto 400 Sq Ft for one and two-pipe systems. The MOH 1 consists ofmixing base unit, spherical motor pump with on/off-switch and 6foot power cord, pre-adjustable control valve, room temperatureguided control (see below), mounting bracket for left or right sidedconnection, over-temperature protection device (131° F), adjustablebypass for connection to one-pipe systems, and venting device.

With the MOH 1 mixing unit floor heating systems with up to2 loops and up to 400 Sq Ft can be easily directly connected to aboiler/radiator loop. The MOH 1 allows additionally for a roomtemperature guided control for a chosen reference room. Thesurface specification 400 Sq Ft applies to an inside diameter of thefloor heating pipe of ½” the maximum pipe length per heating circuitshould not exceed 861 Ft. For smaller pipe inside diameterscorresponding reductions must be made.The MOH 1 is designed for oxygen proof floor heating systems. Themounting bracket allows a left- or rightsided connection to the boiler/radiator circuit. Due to an integrated bypass the MOH 1 can bealso connected to the former used but now out-dated single-pipesystem. The model MOH 1 KF is specially suited for bath roomsand other humid areas due to the non electric thermostat withremote sensor.

The MOH 1 allows a reduction of the high supply temperature ofthe boiler/radiator circuit (for example 160° F) to the lowertemperature level required for the floor heating (for example 95 °F)by injecting hot water into the floor heating supply. The supplytemperature for the particular floor heating can be adjusted indirectlyby the flow through the control valve (model KF + RT) or directly byan integrated constant temperature control (model KR).

The integrated spherical motor pump ensures an even temperaturedistribution on the whole surface and a constant comfortabletemperature level in the floor heating area.

In addition, the MOH 1 is equipped with an integrated over-temperature protection device, which prevents a circulation of waterwith temperatures higher than 131° F through the floor heatingloops, thus preventing damage to the floor.

The room temperature control of the MOH 1 works as follows: Thecontrol valve is opened as long as the measured room temperatureis below the set level. This can happen in two ways: Thermostatdrive with remote sensor (model KF) or thermoelectric drive (modelRT + KR) The RT-KR drive must be connected to a room thermostat(ordered separately). A wireless radio control is also available onrequest.

Design principleA low temperature heating system can be connected to a boilerloop using a mixing module. Control valves and circulators for thelow flow temperature loop are integrated into the mixing module.Completely pre-assembled substations are available with manifoldsin a cabinet or board mounted.

System advantagesThe MOH 2 is a low cost system used for systems with 2 to 12individual zones, up to 2400 Sq Ft. for use in oxygen-diffusion prooffloor heating systems with additional hydraulic adjustmentcapabilities. The compact, space saving design (recessed or wallmounted cabinets available) and the use of the reliable Laing sphericalmotor pump allow the system to be installed directly in the livingarea if needed. The result is a low cost, simple system that can beconnected directly to the boiler loop. A separate low temperatureloop from the boiler to the floor heating manifold is not necessary.The boiler manifolds and additional mixing valves are also eliminated.

These units are compact electrically heated boilers with an integratedcirculator pump. Their performance ranges from 6 to 15 kW sufficientup to 2.400 Sq Ft, sufficient for the space heating of a single familyhome or an apartment. Due to their compactness and a depth ofonly 4.3’’ they can be mounted inside a wall or placed in a recess. Allcomponents are corrosion resistant. The use of the Laing sphericalmotor pump guarantees quiet operation over its lifetime. The integratedelectronic control enables noiseless switching of the electric heatingelements. A safety temperature limiter protects against overheating.

epr Electric apartment heaterEasy emergency heating during boiler malfunctions or replacement,also optimal for heating building sites and when installing underfloorheating. Mounted on a special, robust transport trolley, it is completelyready for connection on delivery. It consists of an electrical heaterwith 3 heating elements and power step switching (3+5+5=13 kW,sufficient up to 2040 Sq Ft), circulator, on-off thermostat (68-194°F),safety temperature limiter, pressurized expansion tank (6l), safetyvalve, pressure gauge, thermometer, union connection with ball valve1" female thread, fill valve, corrosion resistant, and power cord.

epm Mobile Emergency Heater

Small electric boilers with heat performance up to 2 kW sufficient upto 360 Sq Ft, mainly intended for the heating of a single room. It isespecially suitable for bathroom floor heating during the time of yearwhen the central heating system is shut off. Also for the heating ofroom additions or rooms in attics. Contains of heating element of2 kW, circulator, safety temperature limiter, and constant temperaturecontrol. Optional timers available. All components coming in contactwith the liquid are corrosion resistant. Also available assembled intoa cabinet with expansion tank, a manifold for 2 loops, and valves for filling.

Electrical heating today is often less expensivethan other heat sources thanks to the reduced heating requirementsdue to improvements in insulation in new buildings, attractiveelectricity rates and non-existent start-up and stand-by losses.

AdvantagesLaing electrical heaters are characterized by low initial and installationcosts as well as low operation costs. No separate heating or storageroom is required. Due to the compact, space-saving design and theuse of the long-term quiet spherical motor pump, the electricalheating system even can be installed directly in the living area.Electrical heating systems have low maintenance costs as burnermaintenance and oil tank cleaning is not required. Design principleLaing electrical heating units consist of an electrical heater withheating elements, a circulator, a safety temperature limiter, anelectronic constant temperature control unit with additionalfunctions, a pressurized expansion tank and a safety relief valveand pressure gauge. All components in contact with the liquid arecorrosion resistant. A manifold can also be attached. The electricalheating system is available on mounting rails or with cabinet. Acomprehensive range of control units is available for additional controlof the substations. Also applicable as mobile electrical heating, e.g.as emergency heating, temporary electrical heating during a boilerexchange and as construction site heating.

Heat exchangers for system separation

AdvantagesMaximum system safety due to complete separation of the boilerloop from the floor heating loop, no corrosion due to oxygen diffusion,no accumulation of sludge, no clogging of copper pipe heat exchanger,limited water damage if floor heating loop is damaged. Considerablecost advantages for multi-story buildings due to hydraulic separationfrom static pressure of primary system.

The complexity and costs of establishing a hydronic heating installationcan be reduced significantly by using a Laing Heat Exchanger. Insteadof two different loops for the boiler and the floor heating loop, onesingle loop is sufficient for both systems. Since the silent heatexchanger can be installed right in the living area, this second lowtemperature loop from the boiler through the whole building to thefloor heating loop is unnecessary. The heat exchanger transportsthe heat from the boiler loop right into the floor heating loop withmaximum safety due to complete system separation. A floor heatingmixer (usually located close to the boiler) for the floor heating loop istherefore also not necessary.Due to complete system separation of the boiler loop from thecorrosion resistant floor heating loop, damages in the boiler loopcaused by oxygen from the floor heating loop diffusion is no longer aproblem. The complete system separation also eleminatesaccumulation of rust sludge in the floor heating loop, which extendsthe life of the surface heating system, and simplifies servicesignificantly.

Every heat exchanger can be set and controlled separately. Therefore,individual settings for every floor heating loop in accordance with thepreferences of the inhabitants are possible. This maximizes thecomfort and the sense of well-being. This system is also ideal andeasy to install for retrofit installations in apartment houses.

Design PrincipleA low temperature heating system (i.e. floor or wall heating) can beconnected to a boiler loop using a heat exchanger. Control valvesand circulators for the low temperature loop are integrated.Completely pre-assembled substations are available with manifoldsand expansion tanks in a flush-mounting cabinet or on mounting rails.The Laing Heat Exchanger FP is available with heat capacity of 12 or15 kW. A comprehensive range of control units is available for allsystems.
