MATERIALS: GRADUATED CYLINDER, PIPETTE, STOCK SOLUTIONS, BEAKER

YOU ARE TESTING WITH A REAGENT (CHEMICAL INDICATOR) AND NEED A SOLUTION OF 5ML HYDROCHLORIC ACID AND 10ML WATER.

LIST SAFE STEPS FOR MIXING THIS SOLUTION.

STATION #1

1. USE PIPETTE TO DRAW WATER, ADD TO GRADUATED CYLINDER TO MEASURE NEEDED AMOUNT

2. POUR INTO MIXING BEAKER

3. THEN, DRAW HCL WITH A CLEAN PIPETTE, TRANSFER TO GRADUATED CYLINDER TO MEASURE.

4. ADD TO BEAKER OF WATER – DO AS YOU OUGHTA’, ADD ACID TO WATA’

MATERIALS: ERLENMEYER FLASK, UNKNOWN GREEN SOLUTION

DESCRIBE PROPER & SAFE PROCEDURES FOR OBSERVING THE SOLUTION.

THEN, DESCRIBE THE BEST WAY TO RECORD THE DATA. LAST, DESCRIBE HOW YOU MIGHT ANALYZE THE DATA?

MATERIALS: UNKNOWN SOLID, SCOOPULA, WEIGH BOAT, BALANCE

YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TEST AN UNKNOWN SOLID AND NEED A 75G SAMPLE. DESCRIBE HOW YOU WOULD SAFELY HANDLE AND MEASURE IT GIVEN THE EQUIPMENT AT YOUR TABLE.

1.PLACE WEIGH BOAT ON BALANCE PLATE AND ZERO OUT/MASS IT

2.DO A LITTLE MATH: MASS OF BOAT + MASS OF SAMPLE WANTED = TOTAL MASS

3.MOVE WEIGHTS TO TOTAL MASS AMOUNT.

4.SCOOP SOLID WITH SCOOPULA. EMPTY INTO WEIGH BOAT UNTIL POINTER ZEROES OUT.
