SOTOGRANDE.- El Bribón-Mo-vistar de Marc de Antonio se proclamó el pasado fin de se-mana campeón de la VIII Copa de España de J80 Trocadero Sotogrande. Aunque lideró la competición desde sus inicios, el campeonato se le puso caro en la última jornada, hacién-dose finalmente con el primer puesto con un solo punto de di-ferencia sobre el Herbalife de Pepequín Orbaneja y Juan Luis Páez, del Club Náutico de Sevi-lla. Un cuarto en la última man-ga y un primero de los locales, a punto estuvo de dar al traste con los intereses de los visitan-tes, que llegaron con una ren-ta de cuatro puntos a la última

prueba. Solo un barco más por medio les faltó a los de Páez para poner el broche a su mejor día con dos 1º y un 3º, frente a un 1º, un 2º y un 4º del equipo Movistar.

El tercer puesto del podio fue para el Puerto Sherry II-Oxital, de Jesús González-Ama-liach, con bandera y tripulación mixta andaluza y cántabra; que también consiguió un hueco en el podio en la última prueba. La tripulación del Puerto Sherry lo logró tras resolver un em-pate con sus compañeros del Puerto Sherry I, de Julia Vallo y Dioni Martínez, aclarado con un 2º y un 3º, respectivamente, que dejó a los de Martínez a las puertas de podio con solo un punto más. l.v./sotogrande.- La ceremo-nia de clausura y entrega de premios puso el cierre en la noche del sábado de la VIII Copa de España de J80 Troca-dero Sotogrande, celebrada a los largo de los últimos cuatro días en el campo de regata.

El acto, celebrado en el Beach Club Trocadero, inaugu-rado este mismo verano, tuvo como anfitriones a Manuel Moyano, director de Bevelle Náutica; Miguel Ángel Díez, director del Puerto Sotogran-de y Alex Díaz, presidente de la clase J80.

La noche se inició con una breve intervención de Moyano, que aprovechó para agradecer la presencia de todos los par-ticipantes, en especial a los que se han desplazado des-de otras localidades. También alabó el trabajo de los miem-bros del comité de regatas, con la oficial Ariane Mainemare al frente, y del resto de miem-bros de la organización.

Concluida esta primer tur-no de palabra, los ocupantes del podio final fueron pasan-do uno a uno por el escenario que tuvo en cabeza como fla-

mantes campeones de la Copa de España 2014 a la tripula-ción del Bribón-Movistar lide-rada por Marc de Antonio, jun-to a los equipos del Herbalife, de Pepequín Orbaneja y Juan Luis Páez, segundo, y Puerto Sherry II-Oxital, de Jesús Gon-zález Amiliach, tercero.

Tras la entrega de pre-mios a los ganadores, todos los presentes disfrutaron de una cena ofrecida por el Tro-cadero, que puso el mejor bro-che a una gran regata que dis-frutó de todos los ingredientes para acabar en éxito.

Finalizó así una Copa de España cocinada a fuego lento, que contó con todos los ingre-dientes necesarios para com-pletar una cita redonda en el campo de regatas de Sotogran-de, donde el viento favoreció para tranquilidad de comités, y disfrute de las tripulaciones. Reñida desde el minuto uno, una vez más quedó patente el extraordinario nivel y buena salud de la flota española de

monotipos J80. La VIII Copa de España J80 Trocadero So-togrande contó con la organi-zación del Club Náutico Beve-lle, el Puerto Sotogrande y la Real Federación Española de Vela; y la colaboración de la Fe-deración Andaluza de Vela, el Ayuntamiento de San Roque y la Asociación de propietarios de la clase J80.

El campo de regatas de So-togrande permanece ya en cal-ma, aunque no por mucho tiem-po, pues en manos del Club Náutico Bevelle está, de nuevo, la organización del Campeona-to de J80 en España en 2015; y del mundo en 2016. Todo un reto que, como se ha visto en estos días, están preparados para afrontar.

SOTOGRANDE.- Last weekend, Bribón-Movistar was announ-ced the champion of the 8th J80 Trocadero Sotogrande Spa-nish Cup. Despite the fact that the “Bribón” had been leading the competition from the very first day, the competition for first place was very close with only one mere point between the Movistar team and Herba-life, owned by Pepequín Orba-neja and Juan Luis Páez from the Seville Nautical Club. After the visiting team came fourth in the final round and the local team stole first place, Herbali-fe almost brought the visitor´s dreams to an end, gaining a to-tal of four points. There was

only one boat left between and Páez and his team and the per-fect end to their best day of the competition so far, comprising a 1st and a 3rd compared to Movistar´s 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Third place on the podium went to Puerto Sherry II-Oxi-tal of Jesús González-Amaliach and his troop of Andalusians and Cantabrians who mana-ged to secure a medal in the fi-nal trial. Puerto Sherry´s crew members came out on top after drawing with their partners on Puerto Sherry I, of Julia Vallo and Dioni Martínez, taking 2nd and 3rd respectively, leaving Martínez´s team a mere one po-int from the podium. l.v./sotogrande.- On Satur-day evening, the closing and prize ceremony wrapped up the 8th J80 Spanish Trocade-ro Sotogrande Cup, held over the last four days on the re-gatta grounds. The event, held at the Trocadero Beach Club which was newly opened this very summer, was presen-ted by Manuel Moyano, the Chair of the Bevelle Nautical Club; Miguel Ángel Díez, Di-rector of Puerto Sotogrande and Alex Díaz, president of the J80 class.The evening kicked off with a short speech by Mo-

yano, who took the opportu-nity to thank all the partici-pants for coming, especially those who had travelled from far and wide. He also commen-ded the fantastic work of the race committee, led by Ariane Mainemare, in addition to the other members of the organi-sation team.

After Moyano brough his speech to an end, the winners of the cup who had secured a final place of the podium took to the stage one by one lead by the fantastic champions of the Spanish Cup 2014, Marc de

Antonio and his Bribón-Mo-vistar team, followed by Her-balife of Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez in second place, and Puerto Sherry II-Oxital, of Jesús González Ami-liach in third place.

After the prizes were awar-ded to the winners, all tho-se in attendance were served a special meal offered by the Trocadero, bringing what can only be described as a fantas-tic regatta to a successful clo-se. Now it has to rest and to prepare the ship and the crew for the following competition.

Iñaki Castañer y Ricardo Za-bell, was also eliminated from the battle, as when they were only one point from a place on the podium after the penulti-mate trial of the cup, they lost two points to Pablo Villar with Puerto Sotogrande, finally ta-king fifth place.

This year´s Spanish Cup thus came to a close after a slow start. The event held on the Sotogrande Regata Grounds was a complete success and the perfect wind speed allowed the race committees to relax and enjoy the competition. Rig-ht from the very first minute the competition was tight, and the extraordinarily high stan-dards and the excellent fitness of the J80 One-design Spanish

fleet were more than evident. The 8th Spanish Trocadero So-togrande Cup was organised by the Bevelle Nautical Club, Puer-to Sotogrande and the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation in addition to the collaboration of the Andalusian Sailing Federa-tion, the San Roque City Coun-cil and the Owner´s Association of the J80 class.

The Sotogrande Regata Grounds have now been left in peace, however not for long. Once again the Bevelle Nauti-cal Club plans to organise the J80 Spanish Championships in 2015 and the World Champio-nships in 2016. As we have seen in the past few days, everyone is willing and eager to take on this new challenge.

La Fundación Santa María Polo está de enhorabue-na. La celebración, du-rante el pasado mes de

agosto, del 43 Torneo Internacio-nal Land Rover de Polo, le ha su-puesto unos ingresos extras, tras cerrar la recaudación de la taqui-lla, de un total de 46.000 euros. Una cantidad que supone un in-cremento del 30 por ciento res-pecto al año anterior.

Rafael Reina, gerente de la fundación, tiene muy claros los motivos de esta subida: “Hemos conseguido un 30 por ciento más de lo recaudado el año anterior, porque ha habido un 30 por cien-to más de público. Es fácil, si hay más público, hay más recauda-ción”, añadió Reina, para quien el esfuerzo en difusión de los dife-rentes patrocinadores del torneo ha sido una clave muy importan-te a la hora de conseguir esta ci-fra durante el mes que se prolon-gado el torneo. A lo conseguido por venta directa de entradas, hay que sumar otros 1.500 euros procedentes de los conciertos be-néficos que tuvieron lugar en el After Polo, aunque Reina recono-ció que el resultado, en este apar-tado, no ha sido el esperado.

La Fundación Santa María Polo se surte, como todas las en-tidades de este tipo, de los fon-dos procedentes del patronato, de los donativos y de las diferen-tes actividades que se organizan cada año con fines benéficos.

De esta manera logran man-tener activas sus áreas de tra-bajo y dan cumplimiento a los objetivos establecidos en los orí-genes de la fundación, que son promover y gestionar la hipote-rapia como instrumento terapéu-tico y educativo; fomentar los va-lores inherentes a la práctica del deporte, especialmente ecuestre; y difundir y promocionar los as-pectos culturales del deporte y de sus profesiones y oficios, es-pecialmente los relacionados con el mundo del caballo.

Lo recaudado en las taquillas durante el 43 Torneo Internacional Land Rover de Polo ha supuesto este verano un 30 por ciento más de lo conseguido en la edición

El Centro de Hipoterapia, ubica-do en la hípica del San Roque Club, es hoy por hoy la joya de la corona de la Fundación San-

ta María Polo. Actualmente, atiende a 130 personas, niños y adultos, con dis-capacidades o necesidades especiales. En cada una de las sesiones que se dan en este centro intervienen un fisiotera-peuta, un pedagogo y una tercera per-sona que es la encargada de estar con el caballo. Cada una de estas sesiones tiene un coste de 65 euros, pero quie-nes acuden a ellas sólo abonan diez, y el resto corre a cargo de los fondos de la fundación. Otra gran aportación, aun-que no económica, es la que realiza el voluntariado, que es el grupo de gente que ayuda en las tareas que se realizan en cada una de las sesiones.

Rafael Reina, gerente de la funda-ción, hizo un llamamiento a todos los que estén interesados en implicarse en esta labor, y les anima a hacerlo porque de ese modo contribuirán a que el tra-bajo y la atención pueda realizarse me-jor. “Para nosotros es fundamental con-tar con voluntarios que nos ayuden con los caballos. De este modo, los que tra-bajamos durante la sesión disponemos de más tiempo para poder atender a mucha más gente”, manifestó el respon-sable del centro.

Pero el Centro de Hipoterapia no es el único foco de atención de la Funda-ción Santa María Polo. También está la escuela deportiva, puesta en marcha en colaboración con otras instituciones, en la que se imparten clases de doma, sal-tos y equitación en general.

Asistir a esta escuela, y no a otra, conlleva también una parte solidaria, puesto que los ingresos que ahí se ge-neral por cada clase que se imparte (unos 30.000 euros al año) también tie-nen como destino el Centro de Hipote-rapia. “La gente debe saber que asistir a esta escuela supone un plus de rentabi-

lidad social puesto que está ayudando a muchas personas”, comentó el gerente de la fundación.

Instalaciones

El Centro Hípico Solidario y el Cen-tro de Hipoterapia están integrados en las mismas instalaciones, que cuentan con 42 boxes, guadarneses, una pista principal, otra secundaria, picadero re-dondo, pista cubierta, padocks y pra-dera para la estancia de caballos en libertad. Además, están directamente comunicadas tanto con el Parque de los

Alcornocales como con la playa. Estas circunstancias hacen del centro uno de los más completos y mejor situados del Campo de Gibraltar tanto para el apren-dizaje y práctica de la equitación en to-das sus disciplinas como para el aloja-miento de caballos.

Como equipamiento más específico para la realización de las sesiones de hipoterapia, el centro cuenta con una rampa para las transferencias al caba-llo, sala de fisioterapia, grúa de trans-ferencias, pista específica para terapias ecuestres y una zona de alcornocal res-tringida sólo para hipoterapia.

The Santa Maria Polo Club have reason to celebrate. This Au-gust, the 43rd Land Rover In-ternational Polo Tournament

has brought in a total of 46,000 euros in extra income, after the ticket office takings had been counted. A quanti-ty that suggests an increase of 30% on last year.

Rafael Reina, manager of the foun-dation, is very clear about the reasons for this increase: “We have increased our takings by 30% on last year, be-cause we have had 30 % more visitors. Its easy, if there’s more people, there’s more revenue”, said Reina, for whom the effort of spreading the different sponsors across the tournament has been a very important factor throug-hout the month long tournament.

In addition to the admission re-venues, we have to add another 1,500

euros from the charity concerts that took place during the After Polo, howe-ver Reina did acknowledge that the ta-kings for the concerts were not as ex-pected.

The Santa Maria Foundation re-ceives funding, like similar organi-sations, from sponsors, donations and the various different charity activi-ties that are organised every year. By doing this, they are able to keep their work areas active and to ensure that they achieve their objectives as set out in the origins of the foundation, whi-ch are to promote and carry out hippo-therapy sessions as a therapeutic and educational tool; to promote the inhe-rent values of sport, especially horse riding: and to publicise and promote the cultural aspects of sport and its professions and trades, especially tho-se to do with horse riding.

This summer, proceeds from the ticket offices during the 43rd Land Rover International Tournament have increased by 30% when compared to last year.

Hippotherapy sessions for the disabled

The Hippotherapy Centre, lo-cated in the riding area of the San Roque Club, is today the crown jewel of the Santa Maria

Polo Foundation. Currently it cares for around 130 people, children and adul-ts alike, with disabilities and special needs. In every session at the centre, 3 people are usually involved, a physi-cal therapist, a teacher and a third per-son to be with the horse. Each session costs 65 euros, but those who attend these classes only pay 10 euros, and the rest is paid by the foundation’s funds. Another great contribution, albeit not a economic one, comes in the form of vo-lunteers, a group of people who help ca-rry out the tasks in each session.

Rafael Reina, manager of the foun-dation, appealed to all those who may be interested in getting involved in their work to do so, because that way they will make a serious contribution to the work of the foundation and help them to offer a better service of care. “It is essential for us to have volunteers to help with the horses. By doing so, we will be to have more time to care for more people” said the centre’s manager.

But the Hippotherapy Centre is not the only thing the Santa Maria Polo Foun-dation focuses on. There is also a spor-ts school, launched in collaboration

with other institutions, which offers classes in dressage, jumping and horse riding in general. Attending this school, and not another school, also has a com-munity spirit with it, as the fees that are charged there in general for each class (some 30,000 euros per year) are also destined for the Hippotherapy Cen-tre. “People should know that attending this school offers a plus for social pro-fitability because we are helping lots of people”, said the manager of the foun-dation. The Outreach Equestrian Centre and the Hippotherapy Centre are both integrated together and use the same

facilities, which has 42 boxes, several tack rooms, a main track, a seconda-ry track, a round pen, an indoor track, paddocks and also meadows so the hor-ses can move around freely. The facili-

ties are also linked to the Los Alcorno-cales Park as well as the beach. These facilities therefore make the centre one of the most complete and best-located centres for horse-riding learning and its practice in all its disciplines, as well as for horse-friendly accommodation.in the Campo de Gibraltar. With regards to the specific equipment for hippothe-rapy sessions, the centre has a ramp to enable people to mount and dismount a horse, a physiotherapy room, crane transfers, a track designed for eques-trian therapy and a dedicated hippothe-rapy area.

SOTOGRANDE.- La Delegación Provincial de Ordenación del Territorio de la Junta de Anda-lucía ha emitido un informe fa-vorable para la primera fase del proyecto de expansión que pro-mueve Santa María Polo Club. El alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, se congratu-ló por este nuevo paso para la ampliación de la zona de Los Pinos por parte de la entidad y confió en que, una vez se re-suelvan el resto de trámites, las obras puedan comenzar a prin-cipios del año que viene.

“Ahora estamos pendientes del informe del Consejo Con-sultivo ante la previsión de que no se construyan VPO y se compense al Ayuntamiento con alguna cuantía”, señaló Ruiz Boix en rueda de prensa. Ruiz Boix subrayó la impor-tancia de esta actuación que promueve Santa María Polo Club, con vistas a la genera-ción de empleo y a la potencia-ción de la actividad económica en el municipio. “Este proyecto relanzará el sector de la cons-trucción en San Roque y la ac-tividad de los servicios auxi-liares, lo que derivará en una creación de empleo importante para la localidad”, afirmó el al-calde de San Roque.

M. / SOTOgrande.- The Provin-cial Planning Council of the An-dalusian Regional Government has issued a favourable report for the first phase of the deve-lopment expansion project of the Santa Maria Polo Club. The Mayor of San Roque, Juan Car-los Ruiz Boix, welcomed this new step in the expansion of the Los Pinos area by the club, and he was confident that, once the remaining formalities are resolved, work could begin ear-ly next year.

“The report from the Advi-sory Committee is now pending in expectation that no state subsidised housing is built and the Town Council is compensa-

ted accordingly”, said Ruiz Boix at a press conference. The Ma-yor of San Roque is confident that the project will receive its final approval from the Andalu-sian Regional Government be-fore the end of 2014, so work can begin on the two five star hotels, the luxury housing and the new berths in the Sotogran-de Marina in 2015.

Ruiz Boix stressed the im-portance of this action by the Santa Maria Polo Club, with a view to create further jobs and

to boost the economic activity of the municipality. “This pro-ject will re-launch the cons-truction industry in San Roque and the auxiliary services, re-sulting in a number of jobs for the town”, said the Mayor.

Santa Maria is promoting an ambitious tourist-sports pro-ject that plans to invest 1.5 bi-llion and create 5,000 jobs. This action plan revolves around two key pillars: the Los Pinos project and the establishment of an Equine District.

The Los Pinos project, the only one in the world, is ba-sed on the club’s facilities and the expansion of the Sotogran-de Marina. This action is alrea-dy provided for in the Develo-pment Plan of the Campo de Gibraltar.

This project will involve the construction of two five star luxury hotels, with 600 beds in total, as well as a large shop-ping centre for large brand na-mes linked to Polo, top-level vi-llas with berths, attachments

El segundo pilar es el es-tablecimiento de un Distrito Equino en la Vega del Guadia-ro donde se puedan desarrollar los clubes de polo e hípica ya afincados en la zona, así como varios más, siguiendo el mode-lo de gran éxito de Wellington, en Palm Beach (Florida, Esta-dos Unidos). El Distrito Equino posibilitaría inversiones cerca-nas a los 1.000 millones y alre-dedor de 3.000 puestos de tra-bajo, directos e indirectos.

El proyecto del Distrito Equino sigue las estrategias 2020 de la UE, tiene el apoyo de los ayuntamientos de San Roque, Jimena y Castellar, así como del Gobierno andaluz. Santa María Polo Club espera que pueda materializarse antes de 2016.

The rest of the competitions take place in the San Roque Club, with the Tilt The Room; in the Ro-yal Club of Sotogrande’s Golf, where the Monthly Medal de-velops; and the last one is the Tilt Med Golf, where the gol-fers will compete in the field of the Club of Golf la Alcai-desa. Since it can be verified, the clubhouses that have hea-

dquarters in the municipality, a total of nine, they enjoy an excellent health. The tilts of weekend, divided in different categories, shape the habitual program of the clubs of golfs that, hereby, give response to the demand of the partners. This type of summons inclu-des also lunches, which sup-poses an added value to the-se meetings that, in addition, they present as an excellent opportunity for the convivia-lity between the partners. El resto de las compe-ticiones tienen lugar en el San Roque Club, con el Tor-neo La Sala; en el Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, don-de se desarrolla el Men-sual Medal; y el último es el Torneo Med Golf, donde los golfistas competirán en el campo del Club de Golf La Alcaidesa.

Como puede comprobar-se, las casas club que tienen sede en el municipio, un to-tal de nueve, gozan de una salud excelente.

Los torneos de fin de se-mana, divididos en diferen-tes categorías, conforman el programa habitual de los clubs de golf que, de esta manera, dan respuesta a la demanda de los socios.

Este tipo de convoca-torias incluye también al-muerzos, lo que supone un valor añadido a estos en-cuentros que, además, se presentan como una oportu-nidad excelente para la con-vivencia entre los socios.

La mayoría de las com-peticiones tienen estable-cidos una serie de premios para los ganadores en las diferentes modalidades. Otras se realizan con fines benéficos, destinando las inscripciones a institucio-nes o colectivos que traba-jan para ayudar a personas con problemas, enferme-dades o cualquier otra cir-cunstancia. El caso de la parcela 022-TG de Torreguadiaro entra en su fase final tras 12 años de batalla ju-dicial. El Tribunal Superior de

Justicia de Andalucía (TSJA), en su úl-timo auto, conmina al Ayuntamiento de San Roque a ejecutar sin dilación la sen-tencia y a adjudicar de nuevo el terreno respetando las bases originales del con-curso. El Consistorio debe cumplir el fa-llo antes de liquidar el contrato con la sociedad Venta de Viviendas y Edificios Rehabilitados (VVERH), que fue la ad-judicataria del solar en 2002 en un pro-cedimiento que fue considerado ilegal por el Alto Tribunal Andaluz. Una vez el Ayuntamiento dé cumplimiento al auto se desbloqueará el desarrollo urbanís-tico de este suelo, ubicado a la entrada del Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande.

El caso de la 022-TG comenzó en 2002 cuando el Gobierno municipal pre-sidido por Fernando Palma (PP) adjudicó el terreno a VVERH. Otra de las socieda-des que concurrió al concurso, Sotogolf Costa, presentó un recurso al entender que se había cometido una irregulari-dad y se habían incumplido las bases, dándole los tribunales la razón. Así, el TSJA declaró, en una sentencia de no-viembre de 2004, ilegal la adjudicación al entender que existía una “sombra de duda más que razonable” de que ésta ya estaba decidida de antemano a favor de VVERH.

A partir de aquí comenzó un tortuo-so ir y venir por los tribunales entre las dos sociedades mercantiles y el Ayun-tamiento. El caso llegó hasta el Tribu-nal Supremo, que dio de nuevo la razón a Sotogolf Costa. El principal escollo se enfocó entonces en cómo ejecutar la sentencia, ya que VVERH ya había paga-do 6,4 millones al Ayuntamiento por la parcela y había desarrollado obras de equipamiento dentro del proyecto pre-sentado. VVERH tenía planificado le-vantar en la 022-TG una promoción in-mobiliaria denominada El Vigía, con viviendas adosadas de diferentes carac-terísticas. Todavía, a día de hoy, perma-nece la caseta de ventas de la mercantil sobre este suelo.

Ahora, con la última resolución del TSJA, el Ayuntamiento tendrá que con-vocar de nuevo la mesa de contratación y, con las mismas ofertas que en su día se presentaron, adjudicar de nuevo el concurso. Salvo sorpresa, el sobre de

VVERH deberá ser descartado por in-cumplir las bases y la parcela recaerá en Sotogolf Costa, que fue la empresa que presentó la mejor oferta por un to-tal de 6,6 millones. Finalmente, el Ayun-tamiento deberá liquidar el contrato con VVERH.

Tras 12 años, nada hace pensar que será rápida la resolución de esta última fase. El caso de la 022-TG, con las elec-ciones municipales a la vuelta de la es-quina, volverá a agitar los ánimos entre las fuerzas políticas. No obstante, más pronto que tarde, se espera que la ac-tividad se retome en este rincón de To-rreguadiaro, a las puertas del Puerto de Sotogrande, y se pueda desarrollar un proyecto que dé valor a esta parcela, ubicada en una zona privilegiada y que lleva demasiados años baldía.

The case concerning Plot 022-TG in Torreguadiaro shall en-ter into its final stages after a 12 years legal battle. In the last

trial on the matter, the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) formally re-quested the San Roque City Council to comply with their ruling without delay and to reassign the plot of land in line with the original tender conditions. The Local Council must discharge the ruling before the contract held with the com-pany Venta de Viviendas y Edificios Re-habilitados (VVERH) can be terminated. Said company was the winning bidder of the site in proceedings that were la-ter deemed illegal by the Andalusian High Court. Once the Council meets the requests of the order, the development of the piece of land in question found at the entrance of the Sotogrande Marina

may proceed. The 022-TG case began in 2002

when the Municipal Government ran by Fernando Palma (PP - The Spanish People´s Party) assigned the plot of land to VVERH. Other companies took part in the tender, including Sotogolf Costa. Said company filed an appeal with re-gards to the results insisting that the bidding conditions had been breached, justifying that stated by the Courts. Thus, the TSJA declared the assignation of the land to be illegal in a judgement ruled in November 2004 as “without a shadow of a doubt” it had been pre-viously decided that the land would be granted to VVERH.

From this moment in time, the tortu-rous coming and going from the Courts began for the companies involved and the Council. The case even made it to

the High Court, who once again decla-red that Sotogrande Costa had been rig-ht all along. The main stumbling block that the Courts came up against was how to proceed with their judgement, as VVERH had already paid 6.4 million Euros to the Council for the plot and had begun work on the equipment for the planned project. VVERH had inten-ded to develop a real-estate project on 022-TG named El Vigía, consisting of a wide range of semi-detached houses. The company´s real-estate sales office to this day still stands on the piece of land.

Now, with the final resolution of the TSJA, the Council must once again call upon their Bureau of Procurement to study the offers that were presented in 2002 and grant a new tender. Un-doubtedly, VVERH´s offer shall be dis-

qualified due to breach of the bidding conditions and the plot shall go to So-togolf Costa, the company which made the Council the best offer of 6.6 million Euros. Finally, the City Council must terminate the contract they hold with VVERH.

After a very long 12 years debate, it is not expected that the final pha-se of the case shall be resolved quickly. Without a doubt this cause shall cause a stir amongst the political teams and their support, with the municipal elec-tions just around the corner. Neverthe-less, sooner or later it is expected that this corner of Torreguadiaro at the en-trance to Sotogrande shall be buzzing with activity, as a project that shall fi-nally bring value to this vacant plot of land in a privileged and favourable lo-cation shall go ahead.

SOTOGRANDE.- Novomatic, un grupo inversor austriaco, ha adquirido la propiedad del Ca-sino de San Roque. El alcalde de este municipio, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, desveló el pasado martes en una rueda de pren-sa que, tras más de un año de encuentros, ya se ha cerrado la adquisición de las instalacio-nes, junto a la autovía A-7, por parte de la empresa.

Novomatic ya ha presenta-do un proyecto en la Delega-ción Municipal de Urbanismo para la creación de un centro de ocio, que incluirá locales de restauración y una discoteca. Asimismo, la firma austriaca tiene interés en recuperar la li-cencia para retomar la activi-dad de juego del Casino, cuyo permiso depende de la Junta. Según el alcalde de San Roque, Novomatic prevé la creación de 50 puestos de trabajo. “No he-mos querido anunciarlo has-ta que no estuviera cerrado. Es una apuesta real, a diferencia de otros anuncios como el que hizo otro partido de un hotel de siete estrellas antes de las pa-sadas elecciones que quedó en nada”, señaló Ruiz Boix.

El alcalde explicó que No-vomatic ya ha adquirido la pro-piedad del Casino, así como una nueva parcela para su am-pliación. Ruiz Boix calculó que el inicio de la actividad como centro de ocio puede ser una realidad para febrero o marzo de 2015. Posteriormente, inten-tará ampliarla con la recupera-ción de la licencia de juego para operar de nuevo como casino.

Cerrado desde 2010El grupo de capital francés

Partouche decidió cerrar las puertas del Casino de San Ro-que a mediados del año 2010 debido a las pérdidas econó-micas que arrastraba el local. Partouche despidió a los 40 em-pleados con los que contaba el local de juego. La decisión fue tomada de manera unilateral por la dirección del grupo en Francia.

La empresa comunicó en-tonces a los representantes de los trabajadores su intención de cerrar el establecimiento y dar una indemnización de 23 días por año a cada trabajador por la falta de rentabilidad del Casino que ya había presenta-do en el año anterior dificul-tades para seguir adelante. De hecho, a principios de 2009 se negoció un ERE que afectó en-tonces a 19 trabajadores que cesaron su actividad.

El Casino de San Roque ce-rraba de esa manera sus puer-

tas después de más de una dé-cada de actividad, ya que inició su andadura en 1997 cuando San Roque consiguió la licencia diputándosela a la localidad ve-cina de Estepona.

Nueva apuestaDesde que cerró sus puertas,

han sido varios los intentos por reflotar el Casino. Así, hubo in-terés por parte de un grupo in-versor ruso que al final no llegó a buen puerto. Sin embargo, las instalaciones del Casino van a tener pronto vida de nuevo des-pués de que se haya cerrado la adquisición por parte de esta empresa de Austria.

Novomatic Group of Compa-nies es uno de los mayores con-sorcios integrados de juegos de azar del mundo, con un volu-men de negocio de 3.500 millo-nes de euros sólo en 2013. Este grupo de empresas dispone de filiales en 45 países y exporta equipos de juegos de azar a 80 países, según informa en su pá-gina web.

Novomatic opera a nivel mundial con más de 1.500 ban-cos de juegos y casinos electró-nicos así como modelos de al-quiler y 230.000 máquinas de juegos de azar. Entre los casi-nos del grupo se encuentran los bancos de juegos con las ma-yores cifras de ventas de Sui-za, Alemania y de la Repúbli-

ca Checa. Al grupo Novomatic pertenece Admiral Sportwet-ten GmbH, igualmente el ma-yor ofertante de apuestas de-portivas de Austria con más de 205 emplazamientos. Al margen de las ocho casas matriz en la sede principal en Gumpolds-kirchen, en la Baja Austria, el consorcio opera con sedes de

producción y centros de compe-tencia en Alemania, Gran Breta-ña, República Checa, Hungría y Polonia. Novomatic cuenta con 20.000 empleados a nivel mun-dial, 3.000 de ellos en Austria.

mismo, Novomatic Gaming Spain tiene oficinas en Terras-sa (Barcelona). Una presencia en España que ahora se ve am-pliada con la adquisición del Casino de San Roque, que abri-rá primero sus puertas en 2015 como centro de ocio con vistas a recuperar posteriormente la actividad de juegos de azar.

SOTOGRANDE.- Novomatic, an Austrian investment group, has obtained ownership of the San Roque Casino. Last Tuesday, the Mayor of the Municipality, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, unveiled at a press conference that, after a year of negotiations, the take over of the premises, next to the A-7 motorway, by the com-pany, has now closed.

Novomatic has already sub-mitted plans to the Municipal Planning Council for the crea-tion of the entertainment ve-nue, which will include restau-rant and nightclub facilities. The Austrian company is also interested in reinstating the ga-ming license for the casino; a decision made by the Regional Government.

According to the Mayor of San Roque, Novomatic are ex-pected to create 50 jobs. “We did not want to announce an-ything until the takeover was finished. It’s a real gamble, un-like any others, like the one from another party from a se-ven star hotel before the last elections that came to nothing’, said Ruiz Boix.

The Mayor explained that Novomatic has already acqui-red the Casino, as well as a new plot for its expansion. Ruiz Boix estimated that it should be open as an entertainment

venue for February or March 2015. The company will later apply to expand its activities by reinstating the gaming li-cence for the casino.

Closed since 2010The French capital group

Partouche decided to close the doors of the San Roque Casino in mid-2010 due to the venue’s economic losses. Partouche dismissed the 40 employees, on whom the gaming venue coun-ted. The group’s board in Fran-ce took the decision unilate-rally.

The company subsequently informed the representatives of the employees of their intention to close the establishment and to pay 23 days per year worked to each employee, due to a lack of profitability, which the casi-no had already been suffering from over the previous year in order to keep going. In early 2009, the company negotiated redundancy for 19 employees that stopped work.

As such, the San Roque Ca-sino closed its doors after more than a decade in business, whi-ch opened in 1997 when San Roque obtained the licence af-ter competing with the neigh-bouring district of Estepona.

attempts to re-launch the Ca-sino. There was interest from a Russian investor group, whi-ch ultimately did not come to fruition. However, the facili-ties of the Casino will be given new life soon after the take-over by the Austrian company.

Novomatic has a Spanish subsidiary, and in April 2012 opened its new headquarters in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). Novomatic Gaming Spain also has offices in Terrassa (Bar-celona). A presence in Spain that is now expanding since its takeover of the San Roque Casino, and which will open its doors in 2015 as a enter-tainment venue with a view to reinstate its gambling opera-tions.

La Plaza de los Naranjos del Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande acogió, en la tarde-noche del pa-sado sábado, un compendio de

moda, música, poesía y baile. La inicia-tiva, denominada ‘Arte flamenco’, par-tió del Ayuntamiento de San Roque y la Asociación Cultural de Sotogrande, con la colaboración de la Unión Nacional de Escritores. El evento contó con la pre-sencia de la alcaldesa accidental y te-niente de alcalde de Cultura y Turismo, Dolores Marchena, y de la teniente de alcalde de Bibliotecas, Pilar Núñez.

El acto comenzó con la actuación del Coro Ciudad de San Roque, que pos-teriormente dio paso la poesía flamen-ca de la mano de Juana Mari Moreno, acompañada por el guitarrista ‘El Le-bri’. Minutos después se celebró un des-file de moda flamenca gracias a Confec-ciones Paquita de La Línea.

En ‘Arte flamenco’ participaron ade-más la bailaora Noelia Sabarea y su academia de baile, acompañada por Ma-nuel Peralta, ya reconocido como la me-jor nueva voz por muchas peñas de fla-menco, su hermano Antonio Peralta ‘El Kuko’ a la guitarra, y su amigo ‘El Chus-ter’ a la percusión. La bodega Pinna Fi-delis ofreció una cata de vinos y toda la actividad se vio coronada por la exposi-ción de cuadros de pintura de Mosayko Arte Música que, como es habitual, si-gue sacando el arte a la calle.

La iniciativa ‘Arte flamenco’ reunió a numeroso público en la Plaza de los Na-ranjos del Puerto de Sotogrande, entre los que se encontraba el concejal de Ha-cienda en el Ayuntamiento de San Ro-que, Jesús Mayoral, y otros ediles de la corporación.

La delegada de Cultura también es-tuvo acompañada por el presidente de la Asociación Cultural de Sotogrande, Adrian van Loon, y la presidenta de la Unión Nacional de Escritores, Nuria Ruiz. Dolores Marchena agradeció a to-dos los presentes su participación en este evento y, en especial, a Adrian van Loon y a Puerto Sotogrande. “Gracias a esta colaboración con las delegaciones de Turismo, Cultura y Bibliotecas, po-demos disfrutar del arte flamenco en Sotogrande”, comentó Marchena, quien esperó que los asistentes viviesen una noche mágica en el ámbito cultural.

Por su parte, el presidente de la Aso-ciación Cultural de Sotogrande dio la bienvenida a los asistentes. “Quiero agradecer al Ayuntamiento de San Ro-que y a Puerto Sotogrande por hacer realidad esta noche cultural, que proce-de de una ilusión que siempre he teni-do de poder mostrar aquí en Sotogrande todo el arte que se desprende del mundo del flamenco”, indicó Adrian van Loon. Poco después, el arte flamenco inundó el ambiente impregnado por el olor a los naranjos de esta plaza que volvió a ser mágica en la noche de Sotogrande.

Last Saturday afternoon and evening, the Orange Tree Squa-re (Plaza de los Naranjos) found on the Sotogrande Ma-

rina played host to the essence of fas-hion, music, poetry and dance. This initiative, named ‘The Art of Flamen-co’ was the fruit of the San Roque City Council and the Sotogrande Cultural Association, with the help of the Spa-nish National Writers Union. The In-terim Mayor attended the event along with the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism, Dolores Marchena, and the Deputy Mayor of Libraries, Pilar Nu-ñez.

The San Roque City Choir launched the ceremony with a fantastic perfor-mance which was followed by a pie-ce of flamenco poetry by Juana Mari Moreno, accompanied by the Guitarist ‘El Lebri’. Minutes after, the flamenco fashion show got underway thanks to Confecciones Paquita of La Línea.

The dancer Noelia Sabarea and her dance academy also partook in ‘The Art of Flamenco’. They were accompanied by Manuel Peralta, recently acknowled-ged as the best new voice by many fla-menco associations, his brother Anto-nio Peralta known as ‘El Kuko’ on the guitar, and his friend ‘El Chuster’ on percussion. The “Pinna Fidelis” Winery also put on a fantastic wine tasting session for all guests. The event was topped off with the paintings by Mo-sayko Art and Music, with their well-known combination of art outdoors on the street.

Hordes of people flocked to “Orange Tree Square” on the Sotogrande Marina to get a glimpse of the initiative “the Art of Flamenco”. Amongst the crowds, the Councillor of Finance of the San Roque City Council, Jesús Mayoral, and other local representatives could be spotted.

The Delegate of Culture attended the event along with the President of the Sotogrande Cultural Association, Adrian van Loon, and the President of the Spanish National Writers Union, Nuria Ruiz. Dolores Marchena gave her warmest thanks to all guests for their support of this project, and especially, to Adrian van Loon and Puerto Soto-grande. “Thanks to the cooperation of the regional departments of Tourism, Culture and Libraries, we may appre-ciate and enjoy the Art of Flamenco in Sotogrande”, explained Marchena, who hoped that all those who attended this event would have a magical night im-mersed in culture.

Meanwhile, the President of the So-togrande Cultural Association welco-med the guests; “I would like to expre-ss my gratitude towards the San Roque City Council and Puerto Sotogrande for making this cultural evening possible. It has always been a dream of mine to bring the wide variety of art that has emerged from the world of flamenco to Sotogrande”, Adrian van Loon stated. This evening proved to be a truly ma-gical experience in Sotogrande, filled with the inspiring aroma of orange blossom and the art of flamenco itself.

SAN ROQUE.- La película ‘Nú-mero 13’, del sahariano afin-cado en San Roque Mohamed Fadel Jaddad, ha resultado ga-nadora de la III Muestra de Super 8 y 16 mm, que duran-te toda la semana se ha venido desarrollando en la sala de Pro-yecciones Quimera del Palacio de los Gobernadores. Según la decisión del público asistente el pasado miércoles y jueves a las proyecciones en San Roque, la película ‘Bienaventurado bo-rracho’, del marbellí Salustiano Muñoz, ha obtenido el segun-do premio Kinova; mientras que la película ‘Perpetuum inmobi-le’, del castellonense Marc Mar-tí, ha obtenido el tercer premio Hotel Holiday Inn Express.

En el capítulo de menciones especiales, en Super 8 la ha ob-

tenido la película ‘Intrusi’, del italiano Rolf Mandolesi; y en 16 milímetros el filme ‘The fever of the Western Nile’, del canadien-se Deco Dawson.

El acto de entrega de pre-mios estuvo presidido por la concejal de Cultura de San Ro-que, Dolores Marchena, y en el mismo participaron el director del certamen Esteban Gallego, y el coordinador de Cultura, Cé-sar Aldana.

Dolores Marchena subrayó que “no ha habido jurado ofi-cial y el público ha sido el en-cargado de otorgar estos pre-mios, mediante sus votaciones en las dos sesiones en la que se proyectaron las películas. En esta tercera edición se ha ampliado el formato de Super 8 inicial, al de 16 milímetros, aunque no han competido en-tre sí, ya que concursaron en

categorías distintas, con pre-mios diferentes”.

Quince películas han com-petido en la III Muestra de Su-per 8, que este año se ha am-pliado a los 16 milímetros. Se habían previsto tres premios para cada uno de los formatos, cedidos por el Ayuntamiento y por las empresas Kinova y Ho-tel Holliday Inn.

Las películas participan-tes han procedido de Alemania, Austria, Francia, Italia, Canadá, y España, entre ellas alguna de Andalucía. La entrada ha sido

gratuita en todas las sesiones y el público ha votado para elegir las películas ganadoras.

La proyección en forma-to Super 8 de la película ‘King Kong’ abrió el lunes 1 de sep-tiembre la III Muestra de Super 8 y 16 milímetros. El martes se proyectó una restrospectiva y el miércoles y jueves las 15 pelí-culas a concurso.

El primer premio, ‘Número 13’, está dirigida por Mohamed Fadel Jaddad, y es un filme de ficción de 3 minutos en blan-co y negro en el que un hombre cuenta las peculiaridades de su trabajo.

El segundo premio, ‘Bien-aventurado borracho’, está diri-gida por Salustiano Muñoz. Es una película de ficción de 7 mi-nutos en blanco y negro, en el que cuando un hombre pierde su espíritu, realidad y sueño se

‘Intrusi’ consigue la mención especial en Super 8 y ‘The fever of the Western Nile’, la de 16 milímetros

mezclan al final de la vida del personaje.

El tercer premio, ‘Perpe-tuum inmobile’, dirigida por Marc Martí, se enmarca en la categoría de experimental. En 4 minutos, y en blanco y negro, cuenta el ciclo del fin.

La mención especial de Su-per 8, ‘Intrusi’, es un docu-mental de 10 minutos en co-lor dirigido por el italiano Rolf Mandolesi. En el se cuenta que el ojo despiadado de una cáma-ra de fotos o de cine, penetra sin derecho alguno en la vida de las personas sin intentar comprender su situación real. Algo que puede ser considerado como un acto no provocado de violencia.

En 16 milímetros la men-ción especial fue para la pelí-cula ‘The fever of the Western Nile’, del canadiense Deco Daw-son. Es una película experi-mental de 9 minutos en blanco y negro en la que la fiebre del Nilo Oeste sigue a una joven y a su enfebrecido cerebro a través de las praderas de Canadá.

Based on the decision from the attending audiences last Wednesday and Thursday at the screenings in San Ro-que, the film ‘Bienaventurado borracho’ from Marbella’s Sa-lustiano Muñoz, took the Kino-va second place prize, whilst the film ‘Perpertuum inmobi-le’, from Castellón’s Marc Mar-

tí, took the Hotel Holiday Inn third place prize. Special mentions in the Su-per 8 format went to the film ‘Intrusi’, from Italian Rolf Man-dolesi, and in the 16mm format, the film ‘The fever of the Wes-tern Nile’, from Canadian Deco Dawson.

The awards ceremony was presided over by the Councillor for Culture of San Roque, Dolo-res Marchena, and in which the director of the contest, Esteban Gallego, and the Coordinator of Culture, César Aldana, partici-pated. Dolores Marchena said that “there has been no official jury and the public has been in charge of awarding these pri-zes through their votes in the two sessions in which the fil-ms were shown”. In this third edition of the exhibition, the

16mm format is now included, as opposed to just the origi-nal Super 8, and they have not competed against each other, but rather are in separate cate-gories with different prizes.

Fifteen films have competed in the III Super 8 Exhibition, that this year also includes the 16mm format. Three prizes were planned for each format, donated by the Town Council and by Kinova and Hotel Holi-day Inn. The participating films have come from Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Canada and Spain, including some from Andalusia. Admission has been free for all of the sessions and the public

has voted for their winning fil-ms.

The screening of the film ‘King Kong’, in Super 8, ope-ned the III Super 8 and 16 mm Exhibition on Monday 1st Sep-tember. A retrospective was screened on the Tuesday, and the 15 competing films on the Wednesday and Thursday.

First place, ‘Número 13’, was directed by Mohamed Fa-del Jaddad, and is a 3-minute, black and white, fiction film, in which a man discusses the pe-culiarities of his work. Second place, ‘Bienaventura-do borracho’, was directed by Salustiano Muñoz, and is a 7-minute, black and white, fiction film, in which a man loses his spirit, and reality and dreams mix together at the end of the character’s life. Third place, ‘Perpetuum in-mobile’, directed by Marc Mar-tí, falls into the experimental

category. In 4 minutes, and in black and white, the film dis-cusses the cycle of the end. The Super 8 Special mention went to ‘Intrusi’, a 10-minu-te colour documentary, direc-ted by Italian Rolf Mandolesi, about the ruthless eye of a ca-mera, penetrating the lives of people without their permis-sion, and without attempting to understand their actual si-tuation. Something that may be considered as an act of unpro-voked violence. In the 16mm category, spe-cial mention went to the film ‘The fever of the Western Nile’, from Canadian Deco Dawson. A 9 minute, black and white, ex-perimental film in which the fe-ver of the Western Nile follows a young girl and her feverish mind through the meadows of Canada.

SOTOGRANDE.- Mosayko Arte Música inicia de nuevo su Ruta del Arte, un proyecto que nació en 2013 con un recorrido de ex-posiciones por hoteles y clubs de golf de la Costa del Sol. La buena aceptación que obtuvo durante ese primer año les ha animado a seguir adelante en este 2014 con más artistas y es-pacios de exposición.

Hasta el momento, cuentan con la confirmación para par-ticipar en esta iniciativa de los clubs de golf Alcaidesa, La Ca-ñada, San Roque Club, La Re-

serva de Sotogrande, La Duque-sa y Abayt Resort, estos últimos en Estepona.

A todos ellos podrían unir-se otros muchos a los que se les está presentando la idea, siem-pre en colaboración con la Aso-ciación Cultural Sotogrande.

La Ruta del Arte es una pro-puesta más de Mosayko Arte Música, un proyecto creado para presentar, estimular y dis-frutar del arte en todas sus di-mensiones.

Una labor que se realiza du-rante todo el año y que se hace más visible en la temporada ve-raniega, cuando la agenda de actos programada por el colec-tivo se llena de propuestas ori-ginales como la que se pudo ver este mes de agosto en la Plaza de los Naranjos con la puesta en escena de La reina de las Musas. Un espectáculo en el que intervinieron un pianis-ta y un pintor, el cual comen-zó y concluyó su obra mientras el concertista tocaba. Esta cita contó también con la colabora-ción de la Asociación Cutlural Sotogrande, entidad con la que trabajan codo a codo.

Mosayko Arte Música has once again begun its Art Route, a project that began in 2013 with a tour of exhibitions in hotels and golf courses on the Costa del Sol. The popu-larity it gained in its first year has encouraged its organisers to go forward into 2014 with more artists and exhibition spaces. So far, the Alcaidesa, La Cañada, the San Roque Club, the Sotogrande Reser-ve and the Sotogrande La Duquesa y Abayt Resort Golf clubs have confirmed their participation in this initiative. These clubs are in addition to the many others who are already participating, always in collaboration with the So-togrande Cultural Association. The Art Route is an additional activity from Mosayko Arte Música, a project created to present and promote art.

SAN ROQUE.- La sala de ex-posiciones Ortega Brú del Pa-lacio de los Gobernadores de San Roque acoge hasta finales de septiembre la muestra foto-gráfica ‘The Fraga Family Pro-ject’ de Eutropio Rodríguez. El autor explicó en la inaugura-ción que la exposición es fruto de su estancia en Nueva York, donde documentó fugazmente la vida de numerosas familias gallegas.

“Fue un trabajo que hice en el año 1998 sobre una familia

hipano-cubana afincada en la Gran Manzana, y trata de ex-plicar la historia del mundo, la humanidad, las migraciones, y cómo una familia va evolucio-nando sin perder, por este mo-tivo, la esencia en tres genera-ciones de tres nacionalidades diferentes a lo largo de dos décadas de adaptación a otro país”, aclaró Rodríguez.

El autor convivió con The Fraga Family tres días por se-mana durante ocho meses, fo-tografiando la intimidad de su vida. Fue testigo de momen-tos cotidianos de su día a día

y también de acontecimientos importantes para ellos. Rodrí-guez reconoció que también es un trabajo autobiográfico, por-que estaba descubriendo la fo-tografía como un ejercicio de estilo, “descubriendo la ciudad y el país y el resultado ha sido complicado dado el volumen de fotografías, pero el resulta-do lo merece. Fotografié la vida en el Bronx, fiestas callejeras, el metro, y no fue hasta que vi-sité por lo menos un par de ve-ces a los Fraga cuando me di cuenta de que mi gran proyec-to iba a versar sobre ellos”.

V. / sAN ROQUE.- The Orte-ga Brú exhibition room of the San Roque Governor’s Palace shall be home to the photogra-ph exhibition titled ‘The Fra-ga Family Project’, the work of Eutropio Rodríguez, until end of September this year. At the exhibition´s opening ce-remony, the photographer ex-plained that he was inspired to start this project whilst he was in New York. It was in this very city he began to brie-fly capture the life of many fa-milies from Galicia.

“I began this project in 1998 focusing on a Cuban-Spa-nish family living in the Big

Apple. I wanted to capture the history of the world, humanity, migration and the evolution of a family, without losing track of three different nationalities across three generations and two decades of adaptation to another country”, Rodríguez clarified.

The artist lived with The Fraga Family for three days a week over eight months, pho-tographing the intimate and private side to their lives. “I paid witness to the munda-ne moments of their day to day life, in addition to expe-riences and events important to them”, Rodríguez recogni-

sed that this project is also autobiographical in the sense that he himself was discove-ring photography as an exer-cise of style. “I was discove-ring the city and the country and despite the fact the result has been complicated due to the number of photographs I took, it has been worth it. I re-corded life in the Bronx, street parties, the metro through my photographs, and it was not until I had been to the Fra-ga Family´s house a few times that I truly saw the potential and the great project that they encompassed”, Rodríguez cla-rified.

SOTOGRANDE.- Algeciras vivi-rá la próxima semana una fies-ta única: Entremares, Fiestas de las Culturas del Estrecho. Una iniciativa promovida por el Ayuntamiento de Algeciras, y en la que colaboran otras insti-tuciones, con la que se preten-de recuperar y dar a conocer la riqueza multicultural de Alge-ciras; los hechos y personajes más destacados de su historia; promover un atractivo turísti-co-cultural; y recuperar el uso de El Bolero, el traje popular de la ciudad.

En el ánimo de los organi-zadores está reivindicar la ciu-dad como capital de las cultu-ras; y ofrecer a los municipios de la comarca y del otro lado del Estrecho unas jornadas de convivencia que les sirva como proyección y como lugar de en-cuentro para futuras sinergias.

Entre los días 18 y 21 de septiembre, numerosas plazas y parques de la ciudad se tras-ladarán en el tiempo a la Alge-ciras del siglo XIX. Puestos de gremios y tabernas, porches,

recreaciones históricas, esce-nificaciones callejeras y expo-siciones temáticas repartidas por Algeciras compondrán un escenario único en el que se pretende implicar a toda la po-blación. La campaña que se ha

hecho en los últimos meses en-tre las modistas algecireñas, asociaciones, peñas, colectivos y ciudadanos en general para la promoción del uso, durante los días que dure la fiesta, de El bolero, el traje popular algeci-

reño, es una de las principales bazas para lograr ese ambiente y esta motivación del ciudada-no por sus raíces históricas que los organizadores persiguen.

El último de ellos tuvo lu-gar este viernes 12 de septiem-bre con la denominada Fiesta del Pañuelo y el Camafeo, dos de los accesorios que usaban los hombres y mujeres de la época. El objetivo que se pre-tendía con esta fiesta, previa a la gran cita del próximo 18 de septiembre, era la de crear am-biente y proponer a las parejas el intercambio de estos objetos típicos como regalos.

Pero esta cita fue solo la última, pues a ella le prece-dieron, por ejemplo, el pregón anunciador de Entremares, que corrió a cargo de Alber-to Pérez de Vargas, que estuvo acompañado por un concier-to en el parque arqueológico

de las Murallas, lugar donde se anunció la fiesta. También tuvo lugar una gala en la que se presentaron los carteles y la revista oficial, una pasarela dedicada al bolero, la inaugu-ración de la exposición Algeci-ras Romántica, o la presenta-ción de las rutas dedicadas a Paco de Lucía y a los viajeros románticos.

Dos de las rutas que van a suponer una importante pro-moción para la ciudad y dos atractivos, por tanto, para el turista, viajero y amante de la literatura y la música.

En primer lugar fue presen-tada la edición impresa de la Ruta de Paco de Lucía, donde se recoge un detallado mapa

de los lugares más emblemáti-cos de Algeciras en la vida de su universal guitarrista, que servirá de guía para su visita, con una muy precisa y clara explicación.

En dicho desplegable se re-coge, además, la discografía principal del músico, y entre estos lugares representativos se encuentran la casa donde nació en la calle San Francis-co, la calle Munición, la playa del Chorruelo, la Casa Bernar-do, la Plaza Alta, el Mercado de Abastos, su propio monumento en la rotonda del Saladillo-San García, para concluir el itinea-rio en la tumba del maestro de maestros, en el cementerio vie-jo de la ciudad algecireña.

Un recorrido que, seguro, muchos ciudadanos ya cono-cen, pero que ahora pueden en-señar y explicar a famliares y aquellos que visiten Algeciras.

SOTOGRANDE.- A unique festi-val will take place in Algeciras next week: Entremares, Fiestas de Las Culturas del Estrecho. An initiative promoted by the Algeciras Town Council, in co-llaboration with several insti-tutions, which aims to recover and promote the multicultural richness of Algeciras, like the events and leading figures in its history; to promote its cultu-ral and tourist attractions, and to bring back the Bolero, the town’s folk dress. The organisers are aiming to assert the town as the capital of cultures, and to offer the va-rious municipalities of the re-gion and from the other side of the Strait, to come together for a few days to serve as a projec-tion and a meeting place for fu-ture synergies. Between the 18th and 21st September, several of the town’s squares and parks will travel back in time to the Algeciras of the 19th century. Guild sta-lls, taverns, porches, historical recreations, street performan-ces and thematic exhibitions

will take place all over Algeci-ras, and the town will have a unique charm, aiming to invol-ve the entire local population. Over the last few months, dress makers from Algeciras, asso-

ciations, clubs, groups and citi-zens in general have launched a campaign to encourage people to wear the Bolero, the town’s folk dress, throughout the festi-val, as one of the main ways to

achieve the ambiance and the love from citizens for their his-torical roots that the organisers are striving for. The organisers have also appealed to the popu-lation to decorate their houses,

balconies and the streets with Manila shawls amongst other things. This will be on a com-petitive basis, and a major pri-ze awarded to the best-decora-ted balconies.

y.o./SOTOgRANdE.- Numerous acts have been held in the mon-ths prior to the celebration of the Entremares, Fiestas de las Culturas y el Estrecho, as a pre-lude to what will be the climax, with its staging in the parks and squares of Algeciras, of the re-enactment of life in the town in the 19th century. The last of these acts took place this Thursday, the 12th September, with the so-called Fiesta del Pañuelo y el Cama-feo (Scarf and Cameo Festival), two accessories that men and women at the time wore. The objective of this festival, be-fore the big event on the 18th September, was to create an ambience and to encourage couples to exchange these typi-cal objects as gifts. But this event was but only the last, as it was proceeded by the announcement of the Entre-mares proclamation, conducted by Alberto Pérez de Vargas, who was accompanied by a concert in the Las Murallas archaeo-

logical park, where the festi-val was announced. A gala, in which the posters and the offi-cial magazine were presented, a catwalk event dedicated to the Bolero, the opening of the Romantic Algeciras exhibition, and the presentation of the

routes dedicated to Paco de Lu-cía and to romantic travellers also took place. Two routes and attractions for tourists, trave-llers, literature and music lo-vers, which will promote the town significantly.

Firstly, the print edition of the Paco de Lucía Route was presented, containing a detai-led map of the most emblema-tic places in Algeciras in the

life of its universal guitarist, and which will guide visitors with its clear and precise ex-planations.

The pamphlet will also con-tain the main discography of the musician, and among the-se representative sites are the house where he was born on Calle San Francisco, and other places like Calle Munición, the Chorruelo Beach, Bernardo House, Plaza Alta, the Old Mar-ket, his monument on the roun-dabout of Saladillo-San García, and to finish the itinerary, the tomb of the Master Teacher, in the old cemetery of Algeciras. A journey that many people already surely know of, but people will now be able to show to their friends and family and those visiting Algeciras.
