She graduated from NC State in 2006 with three Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in African American History and Community. She has organized and participated in local, national and international events protesting social injustice and inequality. In addition to her grassroots organizing, Ms. Barnette is the creator and owner of Peach Cobbler Yoga, a Durham-based practice through which she strives to challenge students physically, create a space for holistic healing, and elevate consciousness.
