Jamie Metzl PARTNER, CRANEMERE LLC. & HONORARY AMBASSADOR OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT FOR KOREA Jamie Metzl is an expert in Asian economic and political affairs and U.S. foreign policy. Before joining the company,

he served as the Executive Vice President of the Asia Society where he established the global studies program and the Asia 21 leadership initiative; the most significant next -generation leadership program in the Asia-Pacific region. The initiative brings together over eight hundred of the region’s most influential business, governmental, and civil society leaders. He has also served as the Deputy Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senior Coordinator for International Public Information at the U.S. Department of State, the Director for Multilateral Affairs on the National Security Council, and with the United Nations in Cambodia. He is the Founder and Co-Chair of the National Security Organization Partnership for a Secure America, a board member of the Jewish refugee agency HIAS, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a former White House Fellow and Aspen Institute Crown Fellow.

He has authored two books on Asia and is a regular contributor to numerous journals and periodicals. He has deep connections throughout Asia and appears regularly in national and international media discussing Asian economic and political issues.

Metzl holds a Ph.D. in Asian History from Oxford University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University.

Se-joo Son AMBASSADOR, CONSUL GENERAL, KOREAN CONSULATE GENERAL OF NEW YORK Ambassador Se-joo Son assumed his post as Consul General of the Republic of Korea in New York in September

2012. He is committed to focusing his efforts on positive developments of the Korean communities in NY, NJ, PA, CT and DE, as well as on a broader level to include enhancing political, economic, social, cultural and people-to-people relations between Korea and the United States.

Ambassador Son brings to his office more than 30 years of experience as a distinguished career diplomat. He brought to his office his extensive and unique career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea since 1980, where his past positions include serving as the Assistant Secretary at the Office of the President, Counselor at Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Middle East Minister-Counsellar for the Korean Embassy in Iraq, Ambassador to Tunisia, General Manager for Planning at the Overseas Koreans Foundations. He, then, served as Director-General of the Middle East and African Affairs Bureau from 2004 to 2006. Prior to assuming his current post, he has also served as advisory ambassador for International Relations to the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

Ambassador Son received his B.A. in French Language Education at Seoul National University (1981), and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in France from 1988 to 1989. He is married with two daughters.

This year’s Forum will highlight the second anniversary of the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA). Since its implementation, both Korea and the United States have benefited from growth in trade of goods, services and investment. In the realization that there is always room for further growth to ensure continued success and deliver the full benefits of the KORUS FTA; this event hopes to serve as a point of information and resources that companies in both markets can benefit from.

Kevin Shin GENERAL MANAGER, ENA INDUSTRY ENA is an industry leader in the design, development and manufacturing of molded rubber and plastic

components as well as Ignition Cables & Wire Harnesses. They specialize in anti-vibration rubber parts for OEM in North America car market and provide high quality products to the transportation industry worldwide.

With three manufacturing facilities in Korea and overseas branches in the United States, Germany and Japan; ENA has experiences in the international trade and manufacturing & supply markets in the most critical automotive markets as well as observing how the recent KORUS FTA increased ENA’s U.S. marketing and sales efforts firsthand.

Steven P. Koda OF COUNSEL, JORDAN & HAMBURG, LLP Steven P. Koda has over 25 years of experience as a patent attorney and previously associated with the legal firms Morgan & Finnegan of New York, NY; and

Townsend and Town send and Crew in Palo Alto, Ca. He has also taught Intellectual Property Law at the Seattle University School of Law.

He has worked with a variety of technologies in the electronics, software, medical devices and applied physics arts sectors dealing with numerous technologies such as retinal display devices, image processing systems, broadband communications, power line communications, utility power transmission and delivery, security software, ultrasound devices, defibrillators, radiographic systems, robotics, inkjet technologies, carriage feed systems, embedded systems, mips processors, and semiconductor devices, processes and test equipment.

Stephen Edward Older PARTNER, MCGUIREWOODS LLP Stephen focuses his practice on corporate and securities law, with a concentration on public offerings and private placements, including private investments

in public equity (PIPEs) transactions. He also maintains an active practice representing hedge and private equity funds in transactions, as well as trading and general advice. In addition, Stephen has been involved in numerous private and public mergers and acquisitions transactions.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, he worked for a large international law firm representing a wide range of publicly and privately held commercial, industrial and financial enterprises. He frequently speaks and writes on corporate law issues, and is AV Peer Review Rated, Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability.

Won previous experiences also include managing a global public service project with UNIDO (UN Industrial Development Organization), consulting on educational development projects with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Korea Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST). He also worked with MEST on ICT training projects, and on a study to test the validity of online math games. He also consulted with the ADB to implement an e-learning assessment program.

Kim has been the Director for the FTA Information and Business Support Center since 2012. She has also worked at International Trade Affairs Team from 2003 to 2005, Planning & Coordination Office from 2005 to 2007 as well as the Daegu & Kyongbuk Branch from 2007 to 2011; all under the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

Steven J. Carlson HEAD OF INVESTMENT BANKING, INTL FCSTONE SECURITIES INC. Steve Carlson is the Head of the Investment Banking Division at INTL FCStone Securities Inc. (“INTL”). INTL

provides trading, market making, investment banking and corporate finance services to customers around the globe. The investment banking division provides capital raising, mergers and acquisitions advisory, project and infrastructure finance, trade finance and bank loan syndication, as well as restructuring and corporate advisory services to firms globally, in the natural resources, agriculture, financial institutions, power generation and real estate sectors.

He began his career at Fannie Mae as a Senior Planning and Financial Analyst, where he was responsible for asset and liability management analysis, as well as portfolio pricing analysis. Prior to forming Provident in 1998, he was a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers. He has held various senior positions such as Global Business Head in Emerging Markets Fixed Income (FI) and Derivatives, Global Sales Manager of FI Institutional Client Group (ICG) and PCS, Head of the Mortgage Backed Securities whole loan and derivatives trading business and Director of mortgage-backed securities research.

Dennis L. Wright SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, SANDLER & TRAVIS TRADE ADVISORY SERVICES, INC. Dennis Wright is Senior Vice President of Consulting Services for Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services,

Inc., resident in the Detroit office.

He began his customs career in 1961, has broad-based expertise in a range of import-related areas and has provided specific advice on such issues as regulatory compliance (including the requirements of the Customs Modernization Act), tariff classification, valuation, and eligibility for special trade programs such as NAFTA and the Automotive Products Trade Act. Before joining STTAS, Mr. Wright was the owner/operator of his own Detroit- based customs brokerage company and an executive consultant at one of the northern border’s premier customs brokers.

He is a past president of the Detroit Customs Brokers Association and has presented numerous speeches and seminars on issues involving international trade.

Michael Muth FOREIGN COMMERCIAL SERVICE OFFICER, U.S. EXPORT ASSISTANCE CENTER, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE Michael Muth is an experienced international business professional with 30 years experience, 25 of which have

been in international business. He lived abroad for 4 years working in Germany, India, Poland, South Africa, and Sweden. He has a combination of experiences in the international business, government, and academia sectors as well as focusing on the technology sector and worked with high tech firms for 20 years. He is also experienced in facilitating partnerships, bringing together alliance partners for 10 years.

His current responsibilities at the US Export Assistance Center in New York City include the information & communications technologies, and education, & management consulting industry sectors. His greatest accomplishment in the position thus far is contributing to a sale of software to the Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei for $1.5M. He is an active member of both the ICT and education teams, as well as the 3rd-party evaluation pilot team.
