Message from the Front Office
!Thank you to our families and community who were able to attend the Meet the Teacher night this week. It is always a pleasure to showcase our school and staff and this evening was no exception. If you were unable to attend, please ensure you make contact with your child’s teacher. It is always good to meet the families of our students so we can work in partnership for the best possible outcomes for your child. !Our playgroup program, Little Stars, commenced this week and Mrs Chegwyn had 13 families in attendance. Wow! Homebase 1 is always a hive of activity but knowing there were 13 families this week it would have been organised chaos. Mrs Chegwyn does a wonderful job and is highly sought after as our Playgroup leader. The Little Stars Playgroup program operates each Monday morning from 10am till 11.30am in Homebase 1. Come and join us! !Our Kindergarten students are starting to feel right at home at Kootingal Public School. Mrs Lawrence and Miss Magann are working their magic as the students settle into the rouitines of the school day. If your child is tired, it’s not a surprise. The children are on the go all the time physically and are learning new concepts daily. A ‘sweaty brain’ is a good indication of how hard they are working. Keep up the great work Kindergarten! !A bundle of permission notes were distributed to our students, namely Authority to Publish, General Permission Note, Internet User Agreement and Update of Information, and they are essential to the operation of our school. These notes must be returned prior to the swimming carnival as students require permission to attend the carnival as it is outside the school. The General Permission note will cover students for events located within Kootingal. Parents and families are notified of events in advance so they are aware as to where their children are at all times. !This week we kick off our sporting endeavours with our annual Swimming Carnival this Friday 9th February at the Kootingal Pool. Sporting House Captains were elected last week with plenty of house spirit evident, and this was not only present in our students! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!Congratulations to our House Captains: Captains Gill - Megan Bubb Vice Captains Gill - Rueben Haak and Ally Higgins Captains Wilson - Alexander Cracknell and Isabella Walker Vice captains Wilson - Billy Siemsen and Matilda Lees Captains Dwyer - Will Morris and Brianna-Maree Goman Vice captains Dwyer - Xander Murray and Jainah Grant !We will induct our House Captains, along with our elected Student Representative Council (SRC) members, on Monday 26th February at 10am in the hall. Congratulations also to our class SRC members. They are: 2P Dailen Radmore and Taylor Mills 2/3S Deakan Keven-Faulkner and Chanel Stockdale 3/4B Nate Symons & Abby Stokes 5/6C Damikah Barwick-Taylor 5/6M Joey Hyson !Our Year 6 SRC elections are scheduled next week. Good luck to the following students who are standing for elections:
Girls - Amelia Wynn, Brianna-Maree Goman, Megan Bubb, Keira Madden, Jaeda Symons, Amity Cork, Jade Nicholls,
Ally Higgins, Tianna Urquhart, Thalia Davis, Isabella Walker, Lillie Walker, Matilda Lees, Jainah Grant, Reba Ramage
and Madison Roe Boys - Reuben Haak, Billy Siemsen, Alexander Cracknell,
Xander Murray, Desean Allen, Dan Worth, Will Morris, Beau Roberts and Cohen Parkes
Invitations to parents and families will be given to students for the induction ceremony. !Parents are able to make payments in two ways to Kootingal Public School. They are via cash and via our school website. Please note these are only payments for Kootingal Public School, not the P&C or canteen. Below is a screen shot of the icon to click on our website to make a payment. You will require credit card details to make a payment and knowledge of the activity and cost before proceeding. It is quite an easy system to use and one that is readily available. You are even able to print a receipt to demonstrate your payment. If you have any troubles, please contact the school. See you at the carnival. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs Cracknell’s Message
Welcome back to School Banking for 2018! ! I hope you had an enjoyable break. I'm really looking forward to this year as we introduce some positive changes to the program. !Firstly, we've listened to community feedback and have made changes to the way we provide fundraising support to schools participating in the program, effective as at the start of the 2018 school year. You can read more about these changes below. !Secondly, thanks to your feedback we're introducing a new Rewards Card Wallet Insert for you to slip into a student's Dollarmites deposit wallet when they're ready to redeem their Dollarmites tokens for a reward item. You'll find a pad of these wallet inserts in your 2018 School Banking program pack and you can order more through the School Banking Portal as needed. !Finally, there's a new Dollarmites character, Lucas, who will be helping students on their Super Savers adventure this year with School Banking. ! Let the fun begin! ! Kind regards, Veronica Howarth Head of School Banking and Youth CommBank

Patterns look great.

Enough to half cover Skittles.
