The beach can also well be called theparty capital of Koh Samui, as it offers onethe option to dance the night away, or tofeast on a grand meal in one of thenumerous restaurants located around theplace. As a matter of fact, no other place inKoh Samui beats the experience ofChaweng's nightlife. You can also enjoywater sports, horse riding, bungee jumping, mini golf and other activities around thebeach area.

2 Secret Buddha Garden

Baan Saket, Koh Samui, Thailand

As it happens with all the best-kept secrets-they tend to remain anything but that,Secret Buddha Garden today is Koh Samui’smost popular ‘secret’. Make your waytowards the mountains on Koh Samui’ssouthern side and ask the locals fordirections to ‘Magic’ Khum Nims garden.Hidden behind a dense foliage of trees, isthis stunning, almost mystical garden-created and carved into its utter perfectionover a period of 12 years by a local Samuianfarmer, Nim Thongsuk at the age of 77years.Beautiful, intricately carved statues fill thelandscape, depicting deities, animals, andhumans in varied poses. There is one of thesculptors himself. Completing the mysticismof the place are the waterfalls and streamsgurgling nearby. Figures are out of Buddhistfolklore and in fact each statue will have astory to narrate. Be sure to explore aroundand peer down the hill- breathtaking, stunning views await you up there.

3 Silver Beach

Koh Samui, Thailand

Koh Samui’s picture perfect beaches make itthe most sought after destination. Whilepretty much all beaches in Koh Samui offeryou a delectable slice of beach life at itsbest,Silver beach in particular is one of the lesserknown beaches, tucked away in a world ofits own, making it a must visit one.

Known as Thong Takian, Silver beach ismore of a moniker for this sandy paradise, named so after its white sandy bay. It’snestled within a dense foliage of palm trees, with incredible granite boulders dotting thecoastline. Lounge around on a beach bedwith your favourite book, sunbathe and getthat perfect tan tint you've always wanted, sip a cool drink while you wonder about themysteries of nature

4 Big Buddha Statue, KohSamui

Koh Samui, Thailand

Sitting majestically on a small, hilly islandnorth off Koh Samui, the BigBuddha Statue seems like one calm, divine observer of daily human life. Giventhe Thai name of Wat Phra Yai, the goldenmeditating Buddha statue was constructed

in the early 1970s and has been one of themost popular crowd puller for tourists eversince. The Big Buddha ponders over theisland of Koh Faan and due to its size can beseen from very far away. In fact, if you areflying to Koh Samui, this is one of the firstmonuments you are going to spot as youscale down the skies. It is believed that theposture of the Big Buddha, sitting with righthand facing down and the left palm restingon the lap, which is locally referred to as theMara posture, reflects Buddha’s journey, specifically the part where he learned toovercome the charm of temptations, all byremaining meditating and remaining calm. The pose is representative of purity, enlightenment and steadfastness. Thetemple's base is a vast courtyard where youcan pick up religious artefacts, clothing, amulets and souvenirs. There are two otherBuddha images encased in pavilions here. You can also find some food stalls over here,to enjoy a quick snack or a small meal. Abeautiful staircase, complete with acolourful design  of a dragon leadsyou up to the platform area on which theBuddha sits.

5 Bang Po Beach

Northern Koh Samui, Thailand

This haven of silvery sands lined with palmfronds and skirted by the azure ocean lieson the calm and quiet northern coast of KohSamui, looking towards the neighbourisland, Koh Phangan. Stretching on for

about 4km from Ban Tai to Bang Po, thebeach is lined with a few restaurants andmakes for the perfect place for your eveningtime stroll along the shore.

The shallow and calm ocean waters in thisparticular part of the Gulf of Thailand offerextraordinary snorkelling opportunities, andthe shallow coral reefs housing a plethora ofcolourful fish are all within easy reach of theshore. If you're just venturing intosnorkelling, this is a great place to start!Essentially, Bang Po is pretty quiet and lacksall the mass-tourism and extensivedevelopment you can find in other parts ofthe island. What's more, there isn't anynoisy nightlife that you can find in theimmediate vicinity to disrupt yourtranquillity. The place is dotted by the smallneighbourhood shopping outlets, and youcan pick up local nothings to take backhome with you here.

In case you change your mood about thepeace and tranquillity, don't worry. On anisland this size, nothing is too far, nightlife inthe old fisherman’s village of Bophut is amere 10 minute drive, and the main touristcentre of Chawaeng just 20 minutes away.
