DIAPHRAGM VALVES GATE VALVES NON RETURN VALVES
DIAPHRAGMS
INTRODUCTION
Klep Valves has been in operation since 1983 and specialises in a comprehensive range of diaphragm, gate and non-return valves. The company operates in the mining and industrial sectors, where valves conforming to international quality standards are supplied to a broad customer base. The culmination of extensive experience and a growing market have resulted in a product that is not only efficient, robust and reliable, but also manufactured wholly in South Africa. Klep Valves manufacture the full range of Diaphragm Valves both W.O. (Weir Orifice) and S.O. (Straight Orifice) Type. The Bodies and Bonnets are made from High Grade Cast Iron and are suitable for lining with various Rubber Compounds as well as Halar. The size range being 15mm to 350mm. Diaphragms are moulded in house and cover the full spectrum of materials to be handled. Klep Diaphragm Valves are wholly manufactured in South Africa. We also manufacture a range of Gate Valves from 80mm to 400mm in both All Iron and Gun Metal trim, in various face to face dimensions, as used by the mining and general industry. Our Clack Type Non-Return Valves range from 80mm to 200mm.

DESIGN Careful design and the use of quality materials assures a long useful life of the KLEP DIAPHRAGM VALVE. The straight-through type passage of the Type "SO" valves ensures minimum restriction when the valve is open, thus giving maximum flow to even the densest fluids. There are two body alternatives available. They are straight screwed bodies from 25 mm (1") to 80 mm (3") or straight flanged bodies from 25 mm (1") to 350 mm (14"). Flanges are drilled to customer requirements. A choice of hand wheel or chain wheel operated valves (with or without guides) is available. The diaphragm, which is made from raw materials to suit the fluids handled, completely isolates the bonnet assembly from the body of the valve, thus ensuring protection of the compressor and spindle from being damaged by abrasive and corrosive fluids.

PERFORMANCE AND APPLICATIONS The excellent flow characteristics achieved with the KLEP "SO" DIAPHRAGM VALVE ensures trouble-free performance even when handling thicker fluids, such as sludge and slurries. This proven system of controlling fluids together with a robust and simple construction makes for minimum maintenance downtime. Designed for easy maintenance, the entire bonnet/diaphragm assembly can be withdrawn by simply loosening the bonnet nuts, thus leaving the valve body and pipe work in place. The KLEP DIAPHRAGM TYPE "SO" VALVE has a wide range of applications in industry. They can vary from acids to foodstuffs, antibiotics to effluents and commercial vacuum duties. All KLEP DIAPHRAGM VALVE parts are independently manufactured and are interchangeable with other types of diaphragm valves.
SERVICE AND QUALITY CONTROL All KLEP DIAPHRAGM VALVE parts are manufactured to the highest standards and our trained technical staffs are available to assist in the selection of the correct valve for a specific application. For maximum working pressures please contact our technical department.

DESIGN The simple functional construction of the KLEP DIAPHRAGM VALVE makes maintenance and pipeline inspection easy. A long useful life is assured by careful design and use of quality materials. There are two body alternatives available. They are straight screwed bodies from 15 mm (1/2") to 80 mm (3") or straight flanged bodies from 15 mm (1/2") to 350 mm (14"). Flanges are drilled to customer’s requirements. A choice of hand wheel or chain wheel operated valves (with or without guides) is available. The diaphragm, which is made from raw materials to suit the fluids handled, isolates the moving mechanism from the fluids, thus ensuring protection of the compressor and spindle from being damaged by abrasive and corrosive fluids.

GATE VALVES & NON RETURN VALVES
DESIGN The Klep gate valve employs the wedge gate design system with seat and gate rings being available in both bronze and all-iron fitted form. The valves are available in sizes from 80mm (3") to 400mm (16"). The body and cover is oval in shape and the guides in the body and gate are extra long for positive support throughout its upward and downward travel. The bolts on the gland housing are easily accessible for removal to enable quick repacking of the gland. Hand wheel, yoke, stuffing box, gate and body are cast from BS 1452 Grade 14 cast iron. Gunmetal trim is available if required. Flanges will be drilled to customer's requirements.

ABOUT REFLUX VALVES Reflux valves are mechanical valves that permit gases and liquids to flow in only one direction, preventing process flow from reversing. They are classified as one-way directional valves. Fluid flow in the desired direction opens the valve, while backflow forces the valve closed. The mechanics of Reflux valve operation are not complicated. These single disc swing valves are designed with the closure element attached to the top of the cap. The closure element can be pushed aside by the flow, but swings back into the close position upon flow reversal. These valves may be installed vertically or horizontally. These valves are so designed that they offer minimum resistance to flow, which results in minimum frictional losses, thus reducing energy consumption. The body of the valve is designed to withstand the maximum expected working pressure and as well as water hammer effects.
VALVE DIAPHRAGMS
