For over 20 years we have been designing and creating beautiful kitchens at our headquarters in the picturesque seaside village of Dalkey in South County Dublin, Ireland. From our privileged position in this lovely part of the world we have developed into Ireland’s premier luxury kitchen design, build and supply business, providing a personalised service to an exclusive international clientele of homeowners and commercial operators.

There is a long tradition of fine furniture design in Ireland, from the exquisite Georgian cabinetry found in the great houses, to the exciting work of a new breed of young designers. All our Living Kitchens are fashioned from solid natural woods and infused with the classical elegance and craftsmanship of traditional fine Irish furniture, yet enhanced with the latest technology and presented aesthetically in any way you choose, tailored infinitely to your individual taste.

The complete flexibility of our concept means that in creating a bespoke Living Kitchen, we can adapt the design to suit any space and conceal or reveal as many modern appliances as you wish. Your dedicated designer will work with you and your architect or interior designer to create the perfect kitchen down to the last detail of installation.

Design House only undertakes a limited number of Living Kitchen commissions every year because we want to ensure that our service level is never compromised. We understand that these decisions are not taken lightly and so we are able to give our clients all the time they need to create their own Living Kitchen. Experience the thrill of a professional kitchen and savour the complex taste sensations of the finest wines when some of Ireland’s top chefs and Masters of Wine turn the Design House showrooms into gourmet theatres.

Design House showrooms are fitted with full working kitchens to demonstrate how our kitchen concepts and Sub-Zero, Wolf and Miele appliances all work at first hand. Contact us to be added to our events guest list and then come along to see some Design House kitchen drama in action.

At a Design House gourmet event our showroom becomes a real working kitchen, giving our clients the opportunity to see our appliances in action and experience the ease of ergonomic kitchen design. Just like a party at home, the guests gather in the kitchen for drinks and look on while our entertaining host prepares to rustle up something scrumptious. Before long, the room fills with gorgeous aromas and the sounds of sizzling delights, popping corks, clinking glasses and the happy buzz of laughter and lively chatter – all the ingredients for another memorable occasion.

Previous hosts of Design House cooking events have been two of Ireland’s top chefs – Michelin-starred Derry Clarke, chef and proprietor of the famous Dublin restaurant L’Ecrivain and Kevin Dundon, who owns and runs one of Ireland’s premier hotels and restaurants, Dunbrody Country House, in Wexford. We have also been fortunate to welcome to Dalkey the wine writer and Master of Wine, John Wilson, who has hosted several wine tasting events at our showrooms, enabling our guests to appreciate the unique capabilities of Sub-Zero’s superb wine appliances.

As well as hosting our gourmet events, we can also arrange private demonstrations for clients with very specific requirements. This bespoke Living Kitchen is styled in classical New England fashion. Solid hand-crafted and hand-painted oak units are topped with exquisite Italian grey marble, unique to Design House. Ultra tall storage units stretch the full room height

and the circular island unit incorporates the technically demanding feature of perfect steam-bent doors within frames. In addition to fine cabinetry, the kitchen incorporates a Wolf range cooker and Sub Zero fridge, freezer and wine chiller.

A bespoke Living Kitchen can be incorporated easily into an expansive, free-flowing living space. The luxurious units here in bleached oak show a more unfitted look with an unusual basalt work surface.

A Wolf range cooker is incorporated into the main island work area while Sub-Zero and Miele appliances are fitted flush to the walls on either side.

This exceptional Living Kitchen demonstrates how hand-crafted finesse and technological innovation can be combined to great effect within a traditionally styled environment.

Rare Calacatta marble tones with soft grey units in Helen Turkington Paints to create

a refined elegance, yet concealed within the framework of the kitchen are a number of powerful and sophisticated appliances. Designed for the keenest of cooks, this kitchen features both Wolf and Aga cookers plus a Miele steam oven.

A contemporary linear look has been created for this elegant Living Kitchen. The design incorporates two islands – a cooking island with breakfast bar and a “wet” island housing a sink, dishwasher and crockery storage.

The hand-crafted islands and units are painted shades of grey in Helen Turkington Paints and furnished with Design House nickel-plated handles, while the worktops are formed from a 50mm thick rare Italian marble, exclusive to Design House.

The stunning Artesio is one of Poggenpohl’s latest concepts in kitchen design. Developed in conjunction with Hamburg-based starchitect Hadi Teherani, Artesio fuses furniture design with architecture, integrating wall, floor and ceiling.

The design is defined by an innovative function arch. This produces an entirely new feeling of space and builds a visual bridge between cooking and living. The Artesio kitchen is available in an innovative range of finishes, including the back-lacquered glass pictured here.

The Plusmodo kitchen is the creation of Argentinian architect and designer Jorge Pensi whose work is known for its timelessness, with an emphasis on the relationship between form and space.

The transparency and openness of the Plusmodo kitchen facilitates an easy flowing transition between cooking and living areas and an architectural landscape of shapes and colours, materials and light.

Utilising tall units and wall units that appear to vanish into the wall, the Poggenpohl integration system creates new room structures, quite different from the conventional kitchen, linking architecture and interior design.

Here high gloss acrylic glass and shimmering matt aluminium fronts are framed by floor to ceiling facing walls. In addition to natural lighting, the satinised glass back panel can be bathed in different colours to a definable rhythm or set to a single chosen colour.
