Who am I ?

Hello, i’m Killian Launay, a 22 years old french digital designerrecently graduated from the international school of design of Valenciennes.

I’m currently looking for of a job in the digital design field,in modeling, rendering or animation.

For this exercise, I chose to model the Mazda 6. I think this car is a good challenge because of its particular lines on the front wings and flanks.

The blueprint i found were bad, so i decided to go to a dealership to try the car and take pictures with my own

camera, with a 300mm lens.

OnePlus is a Chinese brand that comes to compete with the giants of the smartphone,

offering a phone with similar performance for a price defying any conccurents.

The aim of this project was to model the smartphone, the package, all the components included, and next, make renders. Let me present you first the modeling phase.

On this project, my role was to model the concept of the designers, make renders and an animation looking like a publicity. I spent 2 weeks on the modelings, 1 week on the animation, 2 weeks to render the animation, and 1 week of post-production, video and music editing.

We also made 3D printing from my modeling, with the right colors and textures.

Logitech was satisfied with the project, and decided to continue the development to release it as anaccessory with its steambox.

Animation ProjectBrief : the film will last approximately 100-120 Seconds largely achieved with maya. It must respect graphic guidelines the product brand.

Duration : 9 month

I made this project with two teammates, Jean-Baptiste Epinat and William Stock. Jean-Baptiste manage the analysis phase (intentions, inspirations, storyboards), William the storyboarding, modeling and animation phase, and i manage the last phase : the renderings, real-time presentation, post-production, video and music editing.

The project we have chosen is based on an ISD long project. The design team had to provide a new range of tools for laying knee prosthesis. After analysing their project, we define objectives; the animation have to present the tools range, insisting on their new ergonomy and the new visual identity.

here are our synopsis :

_ Patient point of view : The animation have to inform, reassure and explain the operation to the patient who will have the surgery._ Surgeon point of view : The animation have to present the new range of tools, show the ergonomic parts, insist on the precision of the tools.

After that, we looked for graphic inspirations, camera movements, music, architecture, and i compiled all of these inspirations in a video.

We began by making scenarios, modeling the environments, animating the objects and cameras, validating with playblasts, and then rendering the animation.

Synopsis of the film :

The Opus 14 is unveiled through four scenes of typical 50’s america. It is in this four different environment that the magic will operate, by rising objects, typical 50’s shapes, into the air. Those past symbols seems to be attracted by

a mysterious entity, that proves to be the Opus 14. This brand new Harry Winston’s creation is finaly a reality when

the watch is worn by a man at the end of the film.

We began by model all the elements we need for the animation. The cars you see below were bought on turbosquid. My rôle during the modeling phase was to make refinement of these cars, and i help my colleague by modeling a guitar and its flight case, and also a projec-tor. Next, we made the layout of the scenes and we give them to our animator. I made the layout of the first scene (the drive in) and i give

help for the last scene (concert scene).

Once we finished to model all the elements, we began the texturing. I texture all the vehicles and all the drive-in scene, and i help for the texturing of the diner scene.
