Indiana Dunes State Park At the Dunes State Park, you can learn about wildlife and shipwrecks in the Nature Center (featuring kids activities many days at 10 and 3 in the summer), explore the 16.5 miles of trails, complete fun activities to earn a Park Patch, and see if you can earn a sticker by conquering the 3 Dune Challenge, which takes you through three of the tallest dunes in Indiana!

Parent Point: A per-car fee is charged at the gate. Bathhouse and beach are open the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. The park does not allow flotation devices, grilling or alcohol. Life-guards are on duty at the beach.

Parent Point: Beware of breaking waves at the beaches of the dunes. When the waves are high, Lake Michigan produces rip currents, which are strong undercurrents that can carry ANYONE very far from shore in just moments. Even strong swimmers are in danger at these times. Staying away from these dangerous waves could save your life.
