KIDNEY HEALTH AND DISEASEThe Burden of Kidney Failure

•U.S.A. 100,000 people are diagnosed with kidney failure

• Kidney failure is the final stage of chronic kidney disease

•Diabetes is the most common cause of kidney failure

• 44 percent of new cases are from Diabetes

•24 million people in the United States have diabetes

•180,000 people are living with kidney failure from diabetes

•U.S. citizens who develop kidney failure are eligible for federally

funded care

•care for patients with kidney failure cost U.S.A. nearly $32 billion

Waiting for a Crisis maybe too Late

Blood Health

One microliter of blood contains:4.7 to 6.1 million (male), RBC

Blood pH is regulated to stay within the narrow range of 7.35 to 7.45,

• cells of blood are made in the bone marrow• RBC have a plasma life of about 120 days• Spleen

Erythropoiesis •red blood cells (erythrocytes) are produced.•It is stimulated by decreased O2 in circulation, which is detected by the kidneys•which then secrete the hormone erythropoietin•stimulates proliferation RBC

THE NEPHRONS• most kidney drugs target the

nephrons. Diuretics• • nephrons is that they are very,

very tiny – and therefore easily plugged.

• When plugged, they become inflamed and infected and die.

• high blood sugar and high insulin – which is why diabetes and kidney disease go hand in hand.

KIDNEY = 180 BLOOD LITERS PER DAY PRODUCES 2 LITERS OF URINE.

• a process of selective filtration • removes waste and potential toxins from the blood• balance key biochemicals and hormones in the blood.

KIDNEYS THE ULTIMATE ORGAN

•Every day process about 200 quarts of blood to sift out about 2 quarts of waste products •erythropoietin, or EPO, which stimulates the bone marrow to make red blood cells

•renin, which regulates blood pressure

•calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D, which helps maintain calcium for bones

•Regulates chemicals like sodium, phosphorus, and potassium

About 15 percent of the people on dialysis today are there as a result of the damage that Tylenol and/or aspirin did to their kidneys.

DAILY ASPIRIN INEFFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS Patients took a daily dose of aspirin use for cardiovascular prophylaxis (325 mg/d).

• The researchers note that "Conventional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are associated with a spectrum of toxic effects," something which many patients are likely unaware of.

• The most obvious and striking thing about these results is the tremendous rise in risk of aspirin users :GI complication risks up to 450%.

Additionally, GI blood loss, GI intolerance, liver toxicity, or kidney damage.

• The authors note that "No difference was noted in the incidence of cardiovascular events … irrespective of aspirin use."

Vaccinations can affect nearly every organ of our body

the damage to our kidneysGlomerulonephritisrenal dysfunction

kidneys are involved in removing heavy metals and other toxins from our body

Today our kidneys are over used and over-burdened with toxins

The kidneys need lots of pure water to function and filter the blood.

we literally "pollute" ourselves to an early death with vaccines made from toxic foreign animals tissues

Membranous nephropathy is the most common cause of the nephrotic syndrome

The central pathogenesis involves the formation of subepithelial immune

deposits that are responsible for functional impairment of the glomerular capillary wall.

Bovine serum albumin is one of the cow's milk and beef proteins that can escape from the intestinal barrier and thus induce formation of anti–bovine serum albumin antibodies.

Today, food ingredients are subjected to a variety of processing conditions that may induce modification of their proteins, which could affect the digestion of these proteins and allow their passage into the bloodstream.

We report on a mechanism for childhood membranous nephropathy involving anti–bovine serum albumin antibodies and a modified food-derived antigen,...

Two avirulent herpes simplex viruses generate lethal recombinants in vivo

infection with a virulent virus can produce disease in an animal

the ability of a mixture of avirulent viruses to produce disease by means of complementation or recombination in vivo has not been established.

In this study, two weakly neuroinvasive herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) strains were simultaneously inoculated onto the footpads of mice.

•Many (62%) of the animals that received a 1:1 mixture of the viruses died

•the animals that received a similar or 100-fold higher dose of each agent alone survived.

These results show that two avirulent HSV-1 variants may interact in vivo to produce virulent recombinants and a lethal infection.

Banana vaccinesPeople may soon be getting vaccinated for diseases like hepatitis B and cholera by simply taking a bite of banana. Researchers have successfully engineered:bananas, potatoes, lettuce, carrots tobacco to produce vaccinesWhen people eat a bite of a genetically engineered banana, which is full of virus proteins, their immune systems build up antibodies to fight the disease — just like a traditional vaccine

Study (93%) pregnant women had Cry1Ab from GM corn in their blood (80%) of their babies also had it in their blood. passed it to their baby when the baby was in her uterus.

Bt protein can then survive human digestion to enter the blood of the person eating it and then cross the placenta to enter the fetus.

these women may have been exposed by eating meat contaminated with this protein.

The GM protein in the meat then survives cooking, then survives the woman's digestive system to enter her blood, where it then crosses the placenta to enter the fetus.

(Exposure) likely to be higher in the US population as their dietary exposure is likely to be higher. Not only does the US grow a great deal of GM corn.

PurposeWe reviewed 19 studies of mammals fed with commercialized genetically modified soybean and maize which represent, per trait and plant, more than 80% of all environmental genetically modified organisms (GMOs) cultivated on a large scale, after they were modified to tolerate or produce a pesticide.

We have also obtained the raw data of 90-day-long rat tests following court actions or official requests. The data obtained include biochemical blood and urine parameters of mammals eating GMOs with numerous organ weights and histopathology findings.

ResultsSeveral convergent data appear to indicate liver and kidney problems as end points of GMO diet effects …which revealed that the kidneys were particularly affected, concentrating 43.5% of all disrupted parameters in males, whereas the liver was more specifically disrupted in females (30.8% of all disrupted parameters).

Environmental Sciences Europe 2011, 23:10

ConclusionsThe 90-day-long tests are insufficient to evaluate chronic toxicity, and the signs highlighted in the kidneys and livers could be the onset of chronic diseases.

However, no minimal length for the tests is yet obligatory for any of the GMOs cultivated on a large scale, and this is socially unacceptable in terms of consumer health protection.

We are suggesting that the studies should be improved and prolonged, as well as being made compulsory, and that the sexual hormones should be assessed too, and moreover, reproductive and multigenerational studies ought to be conducted too.
