Study in Halifax!

You may think that life in Halifax is centred around the sea, but the city has much more to offer. The downtown core of Halifax offers friendly nightclubs, charmingsidewalk cafes, museums, artgalleries, and several historic sites and churches. The city has the world’s largest downtownboardwalk that runs for over 4km along the magnificent Halifax harbour.

KGIC Halifax, is located indowntown Halifax, and has a beautifully renovated newcampus with large windows in every classroom that overlook downtown Halifax, the famous Citadel Hill and Parade Square. Many events in Halifax begin just outside our classroom windows!

Great for Sightseeing and Weekend Getaways!

When you have some time off, Nova Scotia is a great place to be because of the many beautiful little towns sprinkled through theprovince. Just a short drive away, for example, is the vibrantcommunity of Lunenburg. Filled with brightly painted houses, this town is known for being the home of the famous Bluenose II fishing vessel. If you look on the Canadian dime, you can find a picture of the original Bluenose.

Another great weekend getaway from Halifax is Prince Edward Island. The home of Anne of Green Gables, this Island has red sand beaches and extremely friendly people. The Eastern provinces of Canada have a beauty of their

own and offer some magical places to visit when you are not studying.

Canadian Culture Workshop

At KGIC Halifax students get an ex-tra opportunity to become involved and experienced in all thingsCanadian. Our workshops on Fri-days were initiated to helpstudents learn about the culture, traditions and customs ofCanadians. We also arrange outings for local festivals/events, celebrate holidays, play games, and allow students the chance to present the highlights of owncultures. It is a wonderful way to end each week.

Career World Grammar

This grammar course takes students away from traditional textbook grammar and introduces them to a wide variety of situations in which to use the grammar they learn. It highlights the need forconversational grammar and though textbooks and exercises are used to introduce structures – moves students intoapplication settings that bring conversational grammar confidence to new heights!

Career World Reading and Writing

This class focuses on reading and writing that can be applied to every day situations. Reading and

writing online are both avenues that this course explores. Though there will be some attention directed toward academic writing, this course tends to move away from the traditional essay and research paper and helps students read and write for social events, work situations and travel.

Career World Listening

Listening to the radio, people you meet, movies and in work situa-tions can be verychallenging. There are accents, slang and idioms everywhere. This class places students into situations where listening is key to success-ful communication. It teaches them how to better listen so they can communicate with confidence.

Career World Communication

Communication involves a lot more than speaking and vocabulary. In this intensive communication class – new vocabulary, slang and idioms become a large part of thelearning process. Group discussion, debates, intensive fluencyactivities and building theconfidence to communicate more effectively and efficiently withnative speakers shape this class.

Pronunciation and Accent Reduction

This class will emphasize theimportance of pronunciation as well as reducing accents for clarity.

Teacher-centred Activities – Extralearning value for Students!!

At KGIC we maintain a monthlycalendar of extra-curricular activitiesthat students can participate inwith their teachers by their sides. We believe the best way forstudents to learn is to have aqualified instructor with them both inside and outside of the class-room. This way, they can get feedback and error correction even while they are sightseeing and playing a game of baseball. We make sure that students havethe opportunity to join a varietyof exciting activities that reflectCanada’s vast nature and cultureincluding snowboarding andskiing in the Vancouver CoastalMountains, camping in the famousAlgonquin Park and watchingprofessional hockey. There are also many in-school

activities that make studying more dynamic and fun, including contests for great prizes and many clubs students can choose from. Clubs

Clubs are a great way of exploring, learning, and participating insomething new. Do not be shy! Leave your comfort zone! Sign up for one of our many clubs. Try out the Yoga club or thetheatre club or any other cluboffered at our campuses.
