emerging visual artist and writer rin’s studio practice is a cultural and spiritual exploration of identity. having resided in 3 countries over the course of her life, rin’s mixed heritage and nomadic existence is portrayed through her illustration, photography and poetry which is influenced by the immaginative journey, eastern philosophy and the japanese aesthetic of incomplete, impermanent beauty.the name rin 輪 means ring, a “never-beginning, never-ending wheel of incarnations”1.

behind the scenes...

the opportunity to explore a unique method of portraiture began my ‘keepsake’ project. inspired by my nomadic lifestyle, a collection of do-nated self-portrait photographs evolved into a collaborative celebration of spiritual and imaginative journeys.combining my two loves of people and nature, each portrait is a multi-faceted impression of an individual who has been a part of my journey. after extending invitations to people i have come to know over the past decade, i received an overwhelmingly warm response.

artworks which coincide with the book project:

‘keepsake’ postcard series #1 sent via snail mail to each participant
