Waterless composting toilets

There are a huge variety of buggies in this world, but only one JCB Pump Buggy.

The brainchild of Mackay sugarcane farmer, Paul McKay, the Pump Buggy was born from a concept of a mobile water pump that was used to service his 283-hectare property.

Farming sugar can require a large supply of water and the logistics of running water through big bore pipes around a vast property is daunting.

“I had been using my tractor via the power take-off [PTO] shaft to drive pumps,” Paul says.

“But this was giving me a few problems.“What we really needed was a portable pump.”Local water agent Jeff Roberts recommended

Linhai Motors has announced its intention to manufacture a crush protection device (CPD) mount point in part of its plans for safer quads as a standard feature on the 400cc and 500cc vehicles.

The universal CPD mount is designed to make the fitting of a CPD inexpensive to the Linhai quads.

Ken Higgins, director of Down Under Dirt Bike Sales — the Australian distributor for Linhai Motors says these two model Linhai quads will be fitted standard with a Quad Bar from QB Industries.

The 400cc and 500cc quads from Linhai that will have the CPD’s standard fall in line with its commitment to improve on-farm safety and the recently released Perkins powered utility task vehicle (UTV).

The diesel-powered UTV features a lower safer working speed, certified rollover protection structure (ROPS) and independent front and rear adjustable suspension for improved handling.

Torquepower’s Neil Bird knew he was far from home, when 10 minutes after arriving at the PNG Concrete Aggregates worksite in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, his backpack with the communication leads between laptop and the engines he was there to diagnose went missing.

After a 500 kina (AUS$260) reward was posted, the items were found and returned and the work began. Neil optimistically accepted operations manager Robert Dellman’s challenge of bringing back to life a Hyundai LC450 Excavator with a failed Electronic Control Module (ECM) along with the main objective of the visit, the D65 dozer.

PNG Concrete Aggregates were originally using the excavator to dig rock from one of its four quarries producing gravel. It runs a sizeable operation catering to civil construction companies building housing projects, offices, supermarkets, concrete pylons, an overpass/flyover project, a sports stadium and a six-lane freeway in preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games. It also delivers concrete all over Port Moresby. With a fleet of more than 80 heavy equipment vehicles, maintenance is always going to be an issue.

I could start the D65 after many failed attempts by others. This allowed a more accurate and educated decision on its future which will be to replace the engine, rather than overhaul it,” Neil says.

“Thanks to Neil we have a detailed report and a plan to ensure the D65 and the excavator are functional and productive in the very near future. There are many opportunities for Torquepower in Papua New Guinea. I’m satisfied with the results of Torquepower’s inclusion,” Robert says.
