Phone-in registration notes: Returning students in good academic standing who are enrolling in fewer than nine semester hours may phone in course selections. The number to call for phone-in registration is 815-802-8500. Students registering by phone must pay tuition and fees with Visa®, Discover®, MasterCard®, FACTS or Financial Aid. Students should have their addresses and Social Security or Colleague ID number and phone numbers ready. Due to testing requirements and/or prerequisites, phone-in registration may not be available to all students.

Online registration Most returning students are eligible to register online using KCConnect (http://connect.kcc.edu). Online registration begins one week before on-campus registration. To register online using KCConnect, you must meet both of the following requirements: • Enrolled in or have completed one credit or more at KCC

(not including 0900-0999 courses) • Have a KCC GPA of 2.0 or higher (if you are currently

enrolled in your first semester at KCC, this requirement is waived)

It is recommended that students meet with an advisor before registering online. Online registration is not available for some courses – they are noted with a * in the course title on KCConnect and with a notation in this schedule.

Registration notes Late starting/second session. Spring late-starting classes provide flexibility for some students. A list is on Page 28 and 29. Most courses in the late-starting session meet for 8 weeks, beginning the week of March 11. Summer 2013 registration. Registration for Summer 2013 begins March 18. Laboratory/course fees are additional. The cost of each course, including tuition and fees is noted in each course listing. KCC reserves the right to change incidental fees and tuition without notice. Senior citizens (60 years of age or older) residing in Illinois will not be assessed any tuition for credit division courses provided sufficient tuition-paying students are enrolled in the class to cover the cost of offering it. Senior citizens will be assessed a $13 fee for each credit hour plus any required course fees. *A resident of KCC District 520 who wants to pursue a certificate or occupational degree program not available at KCC may apply for a chargeback if he/she plans to at tend another public community college in Illinois which offers that program, given that KCC does not have a cooperative agreement for the program with another college. Applicants should file a chargeback request with KCC at least 30 days before the beginning of the semester. If the application is approved, the student is entitled to support for the out-of-district tuition for major courses in his/her program as well as any orientation courses required by the col lege the student is at tending. Those residing outside of Illinois should call 815-802-8140 for tuition and enrollment information.

Payment options Registration is not final – and enrollment is not guaranteed – in any course until all costs have been paid in full. Payments for tuition and fees are accepted at the college Accounting Office. Payment options include:Cash. Accepted only if you are registering in person.Personal check. Make checks payable to Kankakee Community College.Visa®, Discover® or MasterCard®. In person, by telephone, or online.Tuition Payment Plan. Through FACTS tuition payment plan, tuition and fees are automatically deducted from a designated bank account or credit card. Payment plan fees apply. Visit www.kcc.edu/facts for more information.Online payment. Payment may be made online through ‘Make a Payment’ at KCConnect (http://connect.kcc.edu). Payments must be made in full with a credit card.

Course cancellations In most cases, if fewer than 12 students enroll in a course, the course may be canceled. The college will make every attempt to notify students in advance of cancellations. A student who enrolled in a canceled course will receive a 100 percent refund of tuition and fees for the canceled course.

Course withdrawal policy For classes which meet for 6-weeks, 8-weeks or 16-weeks, the last day to withdraw and receive a grade of W instead of a punitive grade is included on the academic calendar (see Page 2). Every registration statement also has a notation for the last day to withdraw. Withdrawals are accepted by mail or fax in the Office of Admissions and Registration. No withdrawals will be ac-cepted over the telephone. All withdrawal requests must be in writing and signed and dated by the student. If a withdrawal is sent by mail, the letter must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Questions on the withdrawal process can be answered by the Office of Admissions and Registration at 815-802-8526.

Refund policy Withdrawing students will receive a 100 percent tuition refund through 10 percent of the duration of the course. No refund is given after 10 percent of a course has elapsed. Refund dates are noted on your registration statement. If the final day for a refund falls on a weekend or a date when the college is closed, the refund deadline is the following business day. For the exact refund deadline for any course, see your registration statement or contact the Accounting Office at 815-802-8140. The office hours are 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Fridays. Offices are closed most Fridays in May, June and July. Refunds will not be granted due to a change of course instructor.

Submit an Admissions Form The online admissions form is at www.kcc.edu/. Print versions are at KCC. KCC offers open admission. Continue with Step 2 after submitting the form. Ideal timeline: 3 months before classes start

Request official transcripts Unopened and sealed transcripts from high school/GED and other colleges attended must be delivered to KCC Office of Admissions and Registration, 100 College Drive, Kankakee IL 60901. Photocopies and faxes are not accepted. Ideal timeline: 3 months before classes start

Apply for scholarships and financial aid Complete the FAFSA - go to www.fafsa.gov Complete KCC’s scholarship application – go to www.kcc.edu/scholarships/. Print copies are at KCC. Timeline: FAFSA – January; scholarship application – before April 19 for fall awards

Take COMPASS, the placement test; then meet with an advisor Take COMPASS – An appointment is not required. Testing Center hours are at www.kcc.edu/testingservices or phone 815-802-8500. Arrive at least three hours before the Testing Center closes. Bring a photo ID. You’ll briefly meet an advisor, then take the test. If your ACT scores meet minimum requirements, this test may not be necessary. You will not be denied admission to KCC based on your assessment scores. Preparatory courses may be required. Meet an advisor – Phone 815-802-8500 to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor after COMPASS testing is complete or ACT scores are on file at KCC.
