● Two ultrasonic transducers (sensors) areinstalled to the outside pipe wall sendingand receiving ultrasonic pulses

● The signals travel with and against thedirection of the flow

● When there is no flow, both signals arrivewithout transit-time delay

● A moving fluid will result in a transit-timedifference between both signals

● The measured transit-time difference isdirectly proportional to the flow velocity

Graphic instruction bars ofthe sensor positioningassistant.

Upper bar: Signal-to-noise ratio. Lower bar: Signal quality.Ideally both bars are filled up to the same length and asfar to the right as possible.

By moving the sensors on thepipe, the line between the twosignal bars is moved into acentral position above thecentral indication lineunderneath the lower bar.

The more central the line is positioned, the better the signal-to-noise ratio and signal quality.
