'Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board came in to existence in the year 1966, has been conducting SSLC and other examinations. Every year the students strength is increasing tremendously. For the academic year - April 2011 about 8.73 Lakhs students are appearing for the SSLC examinations. The board has been successfully conducted the examination since it was established.
The board has decided to improve the evaluation system and the results, every year the quantum of the boards examination has been increasing and hence divisional offices of the Board have been set up in order to decentralize the students needs. The board is now providing Admission Tickets with students photographs and major breakthrough in this venture is the photos being used in the repeaters Admission Tickets also. It is for the first time, results of the April 2011 shall be announced with the students' photos in the result sheet. Photos will be maintained in the volumes of the Board.

Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) has been conducting Class X SSLC examinations for over 43 years. Over 8 lakh students appeared for the Class X SSLC examinations conducted by the Karnataka State Board in March-April this year (2009).
Apart from conducting the SSLC Examination, the Karnataka State Board conducts other exams as well and carries out additional responsibilities such as improving the evaluation system etc. Karnataka State Board is also one of the pioneering boards in India to conduct the supplementary examination for the failed candidates in the month of June in order to enable students to join higher education courses from July.
