ADMISSION TO the K-12 Physical Education Program and Secondary Teacher Education: The K-12 Physical Education program admits a select number of students into a cohort each year. The process involves a series of steps which result in final approval into Secondary Teacher Education through the College of Education and continuation in the K-12 program (refer to the K-12 Physical Education Handbook): Step 1: During Spring Semester of the Sophomore Year, and after completion of KINES 251 – Introduction to

Teaching Physical Education during, the Adjudication Statement Form must be submitted by the first Friday in February (form found on the KINESIOLOGY website).

Step 2: During Fall Semester of the Junior Year, the Physical Education Application Form must be completed and

submitted by the third Friday in September. Disposition and performance assessments will be conducted on all teacher candidates who satisfy application requirements. Those candidates meeting acceptable disposition and performance cut-off scores will advance to the interview.

Step 3: Entry-level Interview. Step 4: Admissions Committee decision (prior to spring-semester class registration). Students who do not make

the final selection will be able to submit an appeal. Step 5: Cohort students will be allowed to enroll in KINES 351/KINES 352 Elementary School PE during

the Fall enrollment period. Please refer to the K-12 PE Advising Sheet.*

* Cohort students MUST adhere to the remaining semester sequence of courses to ensure that courses

can be taken without course scheduling conflicts or prerequisite issues. ADMISSION TO THE PROFESSION YEAR: Requirements: 1. Pass KINES 351/352 2. Pass Disposition Assessment 3. Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 in KINES courses. 4. Apply for the Professional Year during the first two weeks of Fall or Spring Semesters. Application is found on
