High Risk Emergency Medicine Hawaii is a course
designed to address those topics that, due to the risk
of misdiagnosis or misadventure, produce the greatest
anxiety and concern in the daily practice of emergency
medicine. Offered by the Department of Emergency
Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco,
nationally renowned for emergency medical and
trauma care, this conference will meet the needs of
the practitioner who encounters a high risk condition in
their daily medical practice. This includes practicing
emergency physicians as well as internists, family
practitioners, and others who practice in an urgent
care, high risk, or emergency department setting.
OBJECTIVESThe objectives of this conference are to improvecompetence and performance in diagnosis, application of current treatment recommendations, and patientcounseling for:
• Head trauma, sedation, airway management, and myocardial infarction;
• Precipitous deliveries, pulmonary embolism,poisoning, TIA, stroke and seizures, and life-threatening infections;
• Patients with headaches, difficult vascular access,dialysis emergencies, blunt and penetrating trauma,and orthopedic emergencies.
ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine(UCSF) is accredited by theAccreditation Council for ContinuingMedical Education to providecontinuing medical education forphysicians.
UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.50 AMA PRACategory 1 CreditsTM. Physiciansshould claim only the creditcommensurate with the extent oftheir participation in the activity.
