LESSONS

SKILLS EVALUAT ION: MAY 31 & JUNE 1Each participant’s skills will be evaluated in the areas of Putting, Chipping/Pitching and their full swing. A point ranking system has been established for each skill and when totaled together will give a starting “benchmark” ranking. Based on the results of the evaluation each child will be given a special junior golf pin that will identify their starting level and help the instructors understand each child’s game better.

PINS: There are 6 different pin levels giving each child plenty of room to grow their skills and improve their game. The Professional staff feels this is a great way to motivate kids and encourage them to work on their game and improve to the next pin level or higher. Participants are encouraged to continue to try to test to the next level as they work on their game. Future testing must be arranged with one of the golf professionals at a separate time.

PUTT ING FUNDAMENTALS: JUNE 7 & JUNE 8This lesson covers all areas of putting and will incorporate numerous fun drills that will teach the basic concepts and improve the overall putting skills.

Includes proper stance, alignment and posture along with making the putter move equally in a backswing and through swing. • The importance of DISTANCE & DIRECTION control for the golf ball • Understanding the slope of the green and learning how to read the “break” of a putt.

CHIPPING FUNDAMENTALS: JUNE 14 & JUNE 15This lesson covers the importance of good chipping fundamentals and how both chipping and putting work together to lower a players score.

Alignment rods will be utilized to assist with proper set up and ball position. B = Ball Back | L = Lean weight toward target | T= Tilt the shaft forward • With proper technique players will understand the ball will ROLL farther than it flies for a proper Chip or “bump & run” shot.

Evaluations will be conducted again and students will be evaluated on all the topics covered in the weekly lessons, including The Rules of Golf. Each area will have a point value to reach the next pin level. This final summer evaluation will help identify just how each student progressed through the program. It will also serve as a great tool to help students understand the weak areas of their game so they can continue to work on those areas to improve. Students that perform higher than the required benchmark evaluation numbers for each pin level will receive a new pin.
