• Lindsay Wildlife rehabilitation hospital is the first and one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation centers in the entire United States.• Established in 1970, the hospital is a recognized national leader and pioneer of wildlife rehabilitation.• Hospital staff and volunteers treated more than 6,000 animals in

2015. During the busy spring season an injured or sick animal was brought in every 12 minutes to Lindsay Wildlife Hospital—

that’s an average of 50 animals a day!• Because animals do not come with health insurance Lindsay relies on donations to operate. The average cost to care for a single patient is $100. Consider giving a gift to the hospital today at lindsaywildlife.org/donations.

How to Help keep wildlife Safe• Do not use rat and mouse poison or sticky traps• Clean your bird feeders at least once a month with 10% bleach solution• If you see any sick bird, please take all of your feeders and baths down and call our hotline• Keep your cats inside• Do not feed bread to ducks

Meet our newest animal ambassador on exhibit! This female roadrunner was found as a fledgling in 2015 in southern California. She has severely impaired sight that would prevent her from surviving in the wild. Here at Lindsay Wildlife, she uses her beak to help navigate and keepers have trained her to take food from tweezers.

roadrunners in the wild can be found speeding across western grasslands and deserts at up to 18 miles per hour. Although mainly ground dwellers, they can be seen perched on low branches or fence posts. They will hunt small mammals and birds, scorpions, insects, and reptiles–even rattlesnakes. Both males and females can be recognized by their long tail, X–shaped (zygodactylous) feet and crest of head feathers revealing colorful skin.
