Each May we have special Memorial Service honoring past
residents. Tim Schrage was our special speaker on Friday May
15th. Everyone who attended had a chance to reminisce and
share memories. A balloon release was held after the service.
Memorial Day History The custom of honoring ancestors by cleaning cemeteries and decorating graves is an ancient and
worldwide tradition, but the specific origin of Memorial Day, or Decoration Day as it was first
known, are unclear. In 1971, Memorial Day became a national holiday by an act of Congress; it is
now celebrated on the last Monday in May.

What Makes a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad
