Fun in the SunSummer is here! The sun is shining, the kids are out of school and the pools are open! Who doesn’t enjoy a day in the water? Whether you want to take the kids for a nice, cool, refreshing dip on a hot afternoon or you gather the whole family to head out to enjoy the beach, pavilions, and the Wake Zone Cable Park at Smith Lake, you can spend your summer enjoying it all with Fort Bragg Aquatics.

Atchley, Twin Lions and Normandy pools offer a great atmosphere while enjoying your summer. Slide down the slides, take a dive off the board, or play a quick game of Marco Polo. The outdoor pools opened on May 24 and will remain open through Labor Day weekend.

Smith Lake Recreation Area is a one-stop day of fun in and around the water. Bring the family out to enjoy a day on the beach. If the kids want a break from the water, they can enjoy the playground. The Smith Lake Wake Zone Cable Park is a state of the art water skiing system that pulls the water sport enthusiast effortlessly over smooth waters. Amateur and Pro wake boarders will enjoy an affordable day of fun! While we look forward to having you and your family out at Smith Lake this summer, it is important to remember there is no fi shing or personal watercrafts allowed on Smith Lake.

Are you looking for a fun, evening under the stars? Grab your beach blanket and chair and head out to Smith Lake for Movie Night on the Beach. This monthly event showcases a full-length feature fi lm on the Smith Lake Beach under the stars! The next event will be held on Saturday, June 15 and feature Madagascar 3! Movie Night on the Beach is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available for sale with no outside food or drink allowed. All children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Kick off the summer season with the Summer Splash Bash. On Saturday, June 8 from 1 to 5 p.m., Atchley, Twin Lions and Normandy Pools as well as Smith Lake will feature music, fl ip-fl op decorating, greased watermelon relay, giveaways and much more! This event is free for identifi cation cardholders and only $5 for pool guests and $7 for Smith Lake guests.

JUNIOR GOLF CLINICSPGA Sports Academy Junior Golf Clinics give youth ages 6 to 16 the opportunity to learn the sport. Participants will learn rules, etiquette, swings and more. ARMY 10-MILERThe Army Birthday 10-miler will take place on Thursday, June 6th beginning at Hedrick Stadium at 6:30 am. Registration closes on Wednesday, June 5th with no race day registration. Visit our website, www.fortbraggmwr.com, for more details.

FISHING DERBYThe Child, Youth and School Services Annual Fishing Derby returns to McFayden Pond on Saturday, June 8th beginning at 8 am. Parents must accompany youth but may not participate in fi shing. Registration closes on June 6th, please call 908-2619 for more details.

FRUGAL FRIDAYSCome enjoy free pool and a reduced price all-you-can-eat buffet at Sports USA every Friday! Free pool available 11 am to 4 pm. Buffet is only $7.95 from 11 am to 1:30 pm. FREE popcorn beginning at 2 pm. See you on Friday!

SUMMER READINGThis summer, come open a book and take a trip to the far reaches of the imagination with Throckmorton Library’s Summer Reading Program on Wednesdays from June 12th – July 24th. Sign-ups will begin at the Library on June 5th. Please call 396-2665 for more details.

FATHER DAUGHTER BALLGet your tickets now for the much anticipated Father Daughter Ball on June 21st. Daddy’s little girls will enjoy dressing up like a princess for a very special night. Enjoy food, dancing and crafts. Call 907-2582 for more details.
