journey of a MODERN Buddhist Robert Gebka, a former Zen Buddhist monk who lived in a Chinese Buddhist monastery for five years, has studied Buddhist psychology and philosophy with many master teachers both of the Chinese as well as Tibetan Buddhist traditions. In this talk Robert will share his own personal journey of how he managed to apply the ancient teachings to his own depressed and drug addicted life. In essence this talk is about how we can apply the ancient teachings of mindfulness to problems of the fast paced modern living. about the speaker

Robert Gebka is a former Zen Buddhist monk who lived at the Nan Hua Zen Buddhist

monastery for five years. There he studied Buddhist psychology and philosophy with

many master teachers both of the Chinese as well as Tibetan Buddhist traditions.

Robert is currently completing his Master’s degree in Transpersonal Counselling at the

UOM California, USA. He is a therapeutic practitioner practicing mindfulness based

cognitive therapy and stress reduction, life coaching and clinical hypnotherapy. Whilst

living at the monastery he facilitated Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and work-life

balance workshops. Robert also founded the Lotus Project which introduces

Mindfulness Based Life Skills to individuals in the prison environment. Robert had the

blessing of personally meeting influential people like HH the 14th Dalai Lama, Rod

Nicholson – author of Origin Way and African high shaman Credo Mutwa – author of

Songs of the Stars and Indaba My Children. He recently relocated to Bournemouth from

the Isle of Skye, where he spent six months on a personal healing retreat. He works in

the mental health field for the NHS and also offers mindfulness based training to people

experiencing mental health difficulties. He is available for one to one consultations at

the Red Heart Fund Medicine Clinic in Bournemouth as well as the Zen ZONE in Poole.
