Everyone knows about teamwork. But until you live it andsee it in action, you cannot understand and appreciateit, say Joe and Carol Garvey.

The Garveys received a call from co-founder Dennis Bloomlast November asking for their help - he needed NationalVice Presidents by the end of May.

“We agreed and immediately went to our calendar, circledthe date and said, - Oh my gosh, what did we get ourselvesinto”, - Joe said.

They knew that to succeed, they needed a plan, and theyworked with their National Sales Directors to form an “EliteTeam” of 60 people committed to their businesses. This teamreceived extra training, motivation and was held account-able for their actions. It didn’t take long for incredible thingsto start to happen.

“The first three months was a time of building, motivationand getting people on board with the goal,” Joe said. “Thenin February, we started seeing more RSDs, SRSDs, and everyweek there were promotions.”

Carol said when their team saw they were not wavering ontheir goal, they wanted to be a part of it. New Brokers werecaught up in the excitement and wanted to help with the largergoal by writing new business. “The feverish pace picked upand people embraced it as if it was their own goal, and itwas a goal for them,” Carol said.

May was incredibly busy, closing business and making surecritical applications did not end up in pending. NSD DottieRiden and RSD John Myers were at their house daily helpingto input applications and answer phone calls. At the close ofbusiness on May 28, the Garveys became the company’sfourth National Vice Presidents, and everyone on theirteam was now a part of AmeriPlan history. “To think that somany people came together for their goal is humbling,”Carol said.

“It will put a lump in your throat. We have cried more thanonce because it is so beyond us,” Carol said. “To God bethe glory, because this was bigger than us. We just workedin faith and believed.”

As National Vice Presidents, their income is now morethan $230,000 per year. While the income is great, whatthey are really looking forward to is building leaders in theirorganization.

“We want to see our people reach the $100,000 levelmark,” Carol said. “And we will see at least three moreNationals by Convention and more after that.”
