Jonah 1:1-10

Things We Cannot Run Away From

We Cannot Run Away From the Eyes of God

Jeremiah 23:24 “Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.”

Hebrews 4:13 “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

Psalm 139:1-16 Acts 17:28 “for in Him we live and move and

have our being”.

We Cannot Run Away From Ourselves

Galatians 6:5 “For each one shall bear his own load.”

Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Romans 2:11-16John 8:9 “Then those who heard it, being

convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”

We Cannot Run Away From Death

Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”

Hebrews 9:27 “...it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”

We Cannot Run Away From Judgment

Revelation 20:12-13 “And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.”

Ecclesiates 12:14 “For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.”

2Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

Acts 17:30-31 “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Hebrews 4:13 “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

Be Grateful God Sees Us and Remember That He Does

Psalm 146:9 “The LORD watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

2Corinthians 5:7-9 “For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.”

Be Happy With Ourselves, Keep Our Consciences Pure

1Peter 3:21 says that baptism provides “the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

1Corinthians 15:9 “For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”

Acts 23:1 “Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.”

Philippians 3:4-6, 12-14

Prepare For Death, Take the Sting Out of It

The Gospel is God’s power to save- (Romans 1:16-17)

The “sting” of death is sin- (1Corinthians 15:55-57)

If our sins are forgiven, then death is a blessing- Philippians 1:21-23 “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.”

By Default, We Prepare for Judgment

All will appear before the judgment seat of Christ (2Corinthians 5:10)…

And give account of himself or herself to God (Romans 14:12)...

And if we have prepared for Death and Judgment then we will inherit eternal blessings (Matthew 25:34)
