Impact Steel provides flat rolled steel products to manufacturers and steel warehouses that need quality steel products in a timely manner.

Traffic Manager

Transportation manager for a multi-million dollar steel company. Responsible for all aspects of shipping, releasing, and preparing paperwork for invoicing. Extensive communication with steel mills, customers, and service centers throughout the Midwest.

· Communicated with steel mills, services centers and other vendors to obtain releases for material purchased on both blanket orders and spot buys in order to schedule trucks to ship the steel from multi-state locations to our Ferndale, Mi. storage facility.

· Procured trucks to move the material by utilizing both telephone and email offerings to a network of carriers I developed based on a history of reliable service, business integrity and cost.

· Negotiated freight rates and fuel surcharges.

· Secured trucks and shipped coils on a freight pre-paid basis to our customers throughout the Midwest.

· Sent releases via email or fax to our customers for material sold FOB our warehouse or located at outside processors.

· After verifying shipment or release, submitted all paperwork to our clerical staff for invoicing.

· When requested, gave status reports to our sales people on inbound shipments.

· Acted as customer service for customers calling in requesting general information such as: order status, proof of delivery, chemistry's, mill of origin, etc.

· Scheduled our company truck with daily pick-ups and deliveries.

· Working knowledge of the Enmark software program.

· Communicated with our outside vendors to determine time schedules for when processed material would be ready for shipment to facilitate timely delivery to our customers.

· Reviewed inbound plant receivers to confirm accuracy of my scheduled shipments.

· Some sales experience with flat rolled steel products.

1978-2000 Crown Steel Company

The company was a steel broker that bought and sold prime and secondary steel products. Dealing at the wholesale level, we bought from steel mills, service centers and automotive plants, and sold to warehouses and select end users.· Acted as the “right hand man” for the owner, providing him with any information he requested as well as

informing him of any operational problems or issues with our customers or vendors. · Developed a network of carriers and scheduled all steel shipments.· Traveled locally as well as out of state to inspect material prior to bidding or resolve material and quality

problems once shipped.· Worked with the clerical staff to provide all information for invoicing and assist them with any information

needed to track a sale or resolve a problem.· Researched and worked with our attorneys on legal matters. · Built and excellent working relationship with our outside processors.· Some flat rolled steel sales experience.
