DESCRIPTION

With so many aspects of a business for a manager to think about on a day-to-day basis, should they really be concerned with how satisfied their staff are in their jobs? The answer is a big yes. Why is job satisfaction so important then? Simply, if someone isn't satisfied at work it will start to impact on their performance and productivity. Morale might start to flag, and if the member of staff deals with the public, the level of customer service they give might start to falter, too. Mistakes might be made because a worker feels disengaged, and energy and effort levels will diminish rapidly. This is bad news for any business, as it could end up affecting the reputation, and profit levels, of an organisation. Poor levels of job satisfaction may also result in workers taking more days off sick, because of factors such as stress or anxiety. Again, productivity levels will become affected. In the worse case scenario, staff who are unhappy at work will soon start to look for another job. High levels of staff turnover can be detrimental to a business, as recruitment and subsequent training is costly and time-consuming
