Front End Web Developer (HTML/CSS/UX/UI) Reporting line The Front End Web Developer (HTML/CSS/UX/UI) will report to the Lead Developer (of the
Learning Technologies Group).
Learning Technologies Group The Learning Technologies group is critical going forward as its primary role is to support &
develop the Learning Technologies platform that underpins a number of key business
products – specifically GOLD and GRfE. In addition the platform may be extended to provide
online learning in support of the EUS product. The group is also responsible for setting up
and managing the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for London WEC and Manchester.
The immediate aims for GOLD are:
Enable GOLD to grow and develop in line with all INTO programmes to ensure it remains fit for purpose
Ensure Centre and Student engagement through content and delivery review and enhancement
Development of GOLD as a global solution
The immediate aims for GRfE are:
Oversee transition from pilot to full product for January 2017
Further develop Get Ready to maximise engagement and drive conversion
Job Purpose The Front End Web Developer (HTML/CSS/UX/UI) is primarily responsible for translating
wireframes and/or mock-ups into the actual HTML/CSS that constitutes the user-facing
elements of the Learning Technologies group’s platforms. The role is also responsible for
liaising with stakeholders to help to design the best possible user experience and also with
the Lead Developer to assist in designing user interfaces. Programming for the browser (e.g.
in JavaScript) is not considered an essential aspect of the role, although candidates who can
demonstrate enthusiasm, ability and experience in this area will be of particular interest.

Creating web page templates (HTML) and (responsive) style sheets (CSS)
Building (responsive) themes
Building style sheets and themes for a range of devices and screen resolutions
Liaising with stakeholders to help to design the best possible user experience (UX)
