Some history….• Established in 1999, 13 in UK• Funded by post 16 education funding councils
through JISC for 3 years, initially ‘project’ funding • Steering group from ‘core team’ of bid writers• Hosted in university and colleges• Regional support for FE and 6th Form Colleges• Mainly practitioner and technical support

And 8 years later …..• Funded by the LSC and HEFCE through JISC,
new funding to 2010• National remit and branding, strong quality
processes, robust network of 13 centres• Support Post-16 and HE: 65 + WBL• strategy, infrastructure, curriculum, learning
resources support• Steering group representative of sectors

degrees of e-maturity, focussed on different areas
