Professional Experience

October 2012 – Current Job, Hewlett PackardOracle Database and Big Data Administrator.

I have created 8 main scripts that help me to automate most common tasks in Vertica Database like check the Overall Status of all our databases, Check the AHM in all the clusters and fix them automatically in case of delays, Check many aspects of an specific DB during N time, Purge Delete vectors in the clusters in order to improve the performance, update statistics for all the clusters, etc.

I have created more than 220 queries in Vertica and 300 queries for Oracle.

I have developed excel macros that help us to work more easily and effectively.

I started to work with Big Data Technologies like Vertica, SeaQuest, Hadoop & MapR. The Databases in Big Data have a minimum size of 20 TB.

I continuously take courses and trainings that help us to understand better and be updated in Oracle technologies and others.

I also developed an Excel macro to assign the shift schedule for the team to cover production support, following rules and best practices.

I am part of Global Database Administrators Team that supports production databases for Hewlett Packard.

I support over 14000 Oracle databases in different environments, production, development and testing. The versions of the databases are from Oracle 10g to 11g and their sizes range from 100 GB to 100 TB, most of these with RAC and Data Guard technologies. I also support Big Data Technologies.

I’m responsible for the exclusive administration of 120 databases in different environments, to assure the good performance of these databases.

I give support to development teams and their requests over their databases. I also provide advice for best practices and techniques to assure good performance on the database once is moved to production.

I attend production requests and issues by using a ticketing system developed by HP.

June 2010 – October 2012, Tata Consultancy ServicesOracle Database Administrator and Designer.

I was part of Database Administrators Team that supports production for the U.S. bank Northern Trust.

I supported over 1200 Oracle databases in different environments, production, development and testing. The versions of bank's databases are from Oracle 9i to 11g and their sizes range from 100 GB to 50 TB.

I was responsible for the exclusive administration of 10 critical databases of the bank, which ensures that these databases are always in good condition and with good performance.

I was the only DBA who was able to work in any DB

technology that the Bank had like Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase and DB2. This was because I’m always looking to know different technologies and become a Database Specialist.

I developed new Unix scripts and queries that ease administration and automation for the bank's databases. The client has stated that these improvements have saved about $ 300,000 annually to the bank.

I took the course "Database Machine Exadata Administration Workshop Ed 1 PRV" presented in Chicago, IL. Christopher Andrews, Oracle instructor.

I did work with the most popular technologies like Oracle ASM, Oracle Streams, Oracle DataGuard, Oracle Exadata.

I did attend to customers and their requests via the ticketing system and Remedy Service Now.

In addition to the tasks of database administration, I have developed macros in Excel to count tickets for all teams attended the project, providing support to the quality area of the company.

Initiated the design of the database for the Credit System of Inbursa Bank being part of the analysis and design of use cases.

Install and update Oracle on SUN computers T1000 with Solaris 9 Operating System integrating the new database with the scheme currently used in the Inbursa Bank.

I was responsible for the Database Team that gave support to the Java developers, the Track and Control of Changes for the databases and maintenance of the Database Servers.

I took and passed satisfactorily the courses of continuous improvement of company compliance with the CMMI methodology.

I was part of the Databases Improvement Team on SigmaTao which have implemented various areas for improvement in the standards of the company with respect to the Databases.

Optimize load processes Layouts SISE system of transmission network by Telmex. Similarly, design team together with the database, migration strategies of divisions of the project.

Support the Public Telephony Telmex project as a programmer Java and JSF, as well as auxiliary DBA on Informix databases. I was responsible for project Georeferencing functionality, configuration and automation Offline Phone Call to Initializing Publicom and Siemens phones.

I gave support to PISA Complaints and PROESA System of the company. My main work in these systems was to improve the performance of applications, making analysis of their database configurations Informix and Oracle respectively.

I created the ActiveX component of Automatic Response for ADSL and FLUKE, this was for PISA Complaints

project and also the DLL libraries to avoid the use of incompatible drivers of Informix on Windows operative system and Linux as well.

I have created Batch and Shell scripts that allows measure the usage of resources during the execution of the applications on the hosts. I also created scripts to improve and automate the maintenance over the databases.

In all the projects in which I participated, I have always maintained contact with the client and their equipment database, thus I have given useful tips that have improved the functioning of the database and increased the level of security and stability.

Database Administrator Oracle 10g Manage database company Oracle to develop a new

integrated system, in addition to building procedures, functions and modules that transfer data between FoxPro databases to Oracle.

I made the Tuning of database server for better performance and optimize queries from developers to the database, which significantly increase the speed of system response.

Organized the backup plan databases and operating system for the prevention and correction of contingencies.

Designed mechanisms file update to correct MAPS chips integrated system that improved the company's Web application.

After leaving the INEGI by the end of the “PROCEDE” program in September 2006, I initiated activities as Database Administrator in administering Bitam of Mexico and optimizing Oracle databases, planning backups Oracle, SQL 2000 and 2005, and DB2.

I provided support to all staff in terms of connections, creation of Stored Procedure and scripts of different databases.
