For those who can’t see John Kay and Steppenwolf perform, Magic Carpet Ride is the only other band out there keeping the legend of Steppenwolf alive.www.Magiccarpetrideinc.com

Ranger and the Re-Arrangers Small StageSunday at 3 p.m.

Ranger and the Re-Arrangers evoke the spirit of a Paris cafe or a Gypsy campsite with their unique twist on “gypsy jazz.”

Intriguing melodies played vigorously on stringed-instruments give them an acoustic, driv-ing sound.

Their hand drummer adds a world rhythm beat. The band features two outstanding jazz improvisers,

Ranger on violin and Dave Stewart on mandolin. www.rangerswings.com

Ducky Races held all weekendWho will have the fastest rubber duck at

the Jefferson County Fair?Find out at the Rubber Ducky Races, a

4-H fundraiser held all weekend long in front of the Small Animal Barn.

Races will take place throughout the day.Three people at a time will race a rubber

duck down 10-foot gutters filled with water. The object of the race is to blow through

a straw, leading your duck to the end of the gutter — quickly.

The trickiest part is getting your duck to the end in an upright position.

If your duck flips over, you can start again.Cost to participate is 50 cents for each race,

and everyone gets a prize. Each participant chooses and names his or

her duck, and each race will be timed. Then at the end of the fair, you can see if

you had the fastest rubber ducky at the fair. The races are a 4-H fundraiser for Critter

Co-op Rabbit and Cavy 4-H Club.

TO SEE SOME REAL DUCKS, just go inside the Small Animal Barn. Ducklings and chicks will be there for children to pick up and pet. Of course, fair-goers can also look at and learn about the adult chickens, ducks, rab-bits, guinea pigs and other small animals that have been entered in the fair as they walk through the barn.
