The Potter County Education Council, Tri-Co Connections,
the Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging,
the Seneca Highlands CTC and our local school districts are
continuing to team up to implement a county-wide program
called Seniors 2 Seniors throughout the 2019-2020 academic
year. This program is teaching basic computer skills, digital
literacy and cybersecurity to senior citizens so that they have
the knowledge to utilize the many benefits of high-speed
Internet which include:
• Staying connected to friends and family
• Utilizing telemedicine (healthcare from home)
• Accessing numerous government on-line tools
• Using on-line banking
• Working from home for a company
• Shopping from home (for items not available in the
local area)
• Improving eye-hand coordination through (strategy-
based) video games
As a part of this program, the Potter County Education
Council, Tri-Co Connections and the Area Agency on Aging
have local high school students volunteering to provide on-site
support to each of the adults who participates in the course.
The area high school students are a logical resource to support
the senior citizens as they learn about the Internet since this
generation of students has grown up with technology as a part
of their daily lives. They are a true “tech savvy” population and
can provide valuable support to older adults who are learning
to navigate and use new technological skills and information.
This very important and timely project which will provide a
valuable lifelong learning opportunity to many of our older
county residents while also allowing area high school students
an opportunity to give back to their local communities. This
course will provide our older county residents the opportunity
to learn, and in some cases, further their technology skills while
also providing our senior high school students the opportunity
to make a difference in the lives of others and connect with a
more experienced generation of Potter County residents. It’s
an opportunity for both age groups to learn about the other, to
debunk generational stereotypes and connect on a personal
level.
The Seniors 2 Seniors technology course is being offered at
each of the four senior centers in Potter County on an eight-
week rotating schedule, meeting on Wednesdays from 12:45 –
1:45 PM (following the school districts’ calendars), throughout
the 2019-2020 school year. The first rotation of the Seniors 2
Seniors course recently concluded at the Shinglehouse Senior
Center and the second rotation starts on December 4th at
the Coudersport Senior Center and will run on Wednesdays
through February 5th. The course will also run at the Ulysses
Senior Center (February 12th – April 1st) and then at the
Galeton Senior Center (April 8th – May 27th).
You can register yourself or a parent or grandparent by
calling the Potter County Education Council at (814) 274-
4877, registering on the Potter County Education Council’s
website at www.pottercountyedcouncil.org or stopping by the
Potter County Education Council’s Coudersport Office at 5
Water Street to register in person.
The Seniors 2 Seniors technology course and high-speed
internet from Tri-Co Connections will allow our senior citizens
to better connect to the world!

Motivational Speaker Addresses Area School Students Motivational speaker Jeremy Anderson from Atlanta,
GA, came to the Consistory in Coudersport, PA on
Monday, November 4th and shared his story and his
message. He is a leading educational expert, author,
and one of the premier motivational speakers in the
educational arena. Years ago, Jeremy experienced
many challenges such as drug and alcohol abuse,
repeated failure in school, a diagnosis of ADHD, and the
absence of his biological father. Fortunately, Jeremy’s
story didn’t end there. During his third attempt at the 9th
grade, Jeremy came across a group of teachers who
refused to give up on him. He eventually caught up with
his right grade, received his high school diploma, and
obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Today, Jeremy is the published author of six books,
and has been privileged to travel across the globe with
his motivational speaking and training. Jeremy is the
CEO of The Jeremy Anderson Group, LLC., which is
an Educational Consulting Firm. His wife Traci is the
president of their non-profit Next Level Living, Inc.
Jeremy, his wife Traci and their two children Jaxon and
Jewel, live happily in Atlanta, Gorgia.
Students in grades 5-12 attended from five school
districts (Austin, Coudersport, Galeton, Northern Potter,
and Port Allegany) and heard Jeremy share information
about his struggles in school (both academically and
behaviorally), and his determination to overcome all
the obstacles. He strongly and passionately reminded
students that each and every one of them is destined
for greatness if they’re willing to put in the work. He
shared his message that “Hard work pays off!” Their
struggles and their DNA don’t determine their destiny;
their decisions do. He also reminded students that
words are powerful, and he challenged each of them to
use their words and actions to be supportive of others
and to give back to their peers, their families and their
communities. Jeremy’s presentations were amazing and
resonated with area students.
This event was sponsored by Potter County Human
Services and the Potter County Education Council.
