Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance in Behavioral Health Care Reafrmed The Dietetics in Developmental and Psychiatric Disorders (currently the Behavioral Health Nutrition) Dietetic Practice Group (DPG) and American Dietetic Association (currently the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for Regis- tered Dietitians (Generalist, Specialty, Advanced) in Behavioral Health Care, originally published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association in April 2006, have been reafrmed at this time and their review date has been extended until April 2016. The Behav- ioral Health Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group (DPG) will be utilizing the Academy of Nutrition and Dieteticsrevised 2012 Standards of Practice (SOP) and Standards of Professional Performance (SOPP) for Registered Di- etitians or Registered Dietitian Nutri- tionists. Latest ACEND Accreditation Decisions Published Online The Accreditation Council for Educa- tion in Nutrition and Dietetics is the Academys accrediting agency for edu- cation programs preparing students for careers as Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians, Registered. ACEND establishes and enforces acc- reditation standards that ensure the quality and continued improvement of nutrition and dietetics education programs. The accreditation decisions made at the most recent ACEND meeting are available at http://www. eatright.org/ACEND/content.aspx?id¼7829 and include status of programs which have received candidacy for accredita- tion, full accreditation, probationary accreditation and withdrawal from accreditation. E-Learning Module on Vitamin D The alarming increase in vitamin D insufciency in the United States has ironically coincided with an increasing recognition that vitamin D likely has a broader contribution to the protection of health and prevention of disease than previously appreciated. This inter- active self-study session will put into perspective the rapid decline in vitamin D status in the United States; the im- plications of vitamin D insufciency on ª 2014 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Obituary

Helen D. Mullan, MBA, RD, LD, was amember of the Academy for over 40years. She completed a Bachelor ofScience degree in Nutrition at HoodCollege in Frederick, MD, and a di-etetic internship at the MedicalCollege of Virginia in 1971. Afterworking several years as chief dieti-tian for Automatic Retailers of Amer-ica (ARA; now Aramark) at St Mary’sHospital in Richmond, VA, she spentthe majority of her career at JohnsHopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD,first as chief clinical dietitian forARA, then as clinical nutrition man-ager, and most recently as assistantdirector of Food and Clinical NutritionServices. Mullan was also an activevolunteer, serving as the AmericanSociety for Parenteral and EnteralNutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) president in1994-1995, and giving many years ofservice, including two terms as presi-dent, to the Maryland Dietetic Asso-ciation (MDA), which honored herwith the Outstanding Dietitian of theYear Award in 1999. MDA has alsoestablished the Helen D. MullanScholarship in her memory.
