EXTRA TERRESTRIAL LIFE & UFO SIGHTINGSDOCUMENTARY

TREATMENT• We aim to make a documentary of a high standard that can be split into short 5-10 minute

videos suitable for online consumption on sites such as YouTube. Each video will deal with a different theme and UFO case, but all of them will fit under the thematic idea of extra-terrestrials.An interview with Jack will also run throughout the films, with questions revolving around his own beliefs and experiences concerning alien life. The film will use various different effects both practical (lights, mirrors, shadows, smoke) and after-effects (lens flare, grainy effects etc.) but with a strong emphasis on practical effects. It could be considered as experimental, an attempt to stand out from the various other videos about extra terrestrials that take up a large part of the market. Narration from Jack himself will take up a significant part of the audio but there will also be several sound-effects interspersed throughout. The effects will be sci-fi and so on in order to go along with the images on the screen. Although it is important that these sounds are subtle and do not detract from the film in any way.In terms of genre the film will be shot in documentary style but with an attempt to break free from the conventions of the genre that pollute channels such as History and Discovery. It will be well presented and formal, and produced from the stand-point that ET’s are fact and not fiction. Evidence and UFO sighting case files will be presented well enough for the viewer to decide and form their own opinion regarding Extra Terrestrial life forms.

RESEARCH RESULTS

• Ever since the 1950’s the public fascination with alien life has increased dramatically. Sci-fi horror B movies have grown into Spielberg sci-fi epics, and the more we understand our place in the solar system the more we want to hear about alien life and UFO’s. Our target audience will be people who are ‘on the fence’ in regards to the existence of aliens, people who are unsure and need a push into the direction of the believers. There is a noticeable gap in the market concerning ‘serious’ alien documentaries. Many of the most popular alien shows such as Ancient Aliens seem to be farcical and amateurish in their approach. There is a place now for a serious documentary evaluating the evidence for UFO’s and life outside of Earth, and this would hopefully generate some level of discussion online.Because of the nature of the short 5-10 minute videos the case files would be easy for people to share online on forums and social networking. Although the videos may circulate around sites concerning the people who already believe, they may also reach non-believers.The project is achievable, with a lot of the cases and themes coming directly from Jack himself. Properly planned out the project could be unique in its presentation of ET life and UFO sightings throughout history.

ADDITIONAL IDEAS • We could attempt to re-create specific mass sightings throughout history, using

aftereffects or use visual representations of what people have claim to have seen.

• Testimonials of individuals beliefs, contrasting believers and non-believers. The accounts throughout the film will help to change the way that even the skeptics view the world.

• Introduce the series of videos with a quick progression of shots that display the various controversial moments throughout history, ending with the modern day and the eventual public acceptance of alien life.
