Sport competitions are special chances for everyone to show their muscular powers as well as iron will. They are really similar to fights, but the difference is that people not use arms or kill each others. In intense sport competitions, athletes always try their best and show all their perfect skill to have the highest rank. Therefore, it is easy to think that the final aim they want to achieve is victory. However, victory is not all because there are some other great values sport brings to people. As a saying goes ‘It is not important whether you win or lose; taking part is what really matters.’ To begin with, the most meaningful thing is the chance to take part in. With professional athletes, joining in games such as Olympic is a normal matter, even compulsory mission. On the other hand, Olympic is really long-cherished dreams to amateur people, who come from poor countries lacking of sport equipments. Needless to say, when the dreams come true, participating in is really the biggest success to them. In addition, worldwide event like Olympic is a great occasion for making new friend, find out other culture and reinforce the solidarity. They are really aims that sport organizations want to achieve: making the world closer by sport. In major people’s thoughts, victory means that someone must have the best result. Particularly in sport, athlete must win a medal or break a record. However, it is not the only way to have success or appreciation from others. Overcoming self and limitation is as well as victory. For instance, in 1978 Olympic game at Barcelona, there was an African man joining in 100m sprint. He started with the highest confidence and aimed to first position. Unfortunately, after only two seconds, he took a serious injury, he was not absolutely able to move. Spectators were absolutely silent and stunned by his severe pain.
